Here’s a little factoid for you. Did you know that Chanel has been making waves in the watch industry the past few years? The company best known for perfume, bags, and shoes has been producing impressive time pieces for a while now, so long, in fact, that they are re-launching their J12 model for its 20th anniversary. If you’re a fan of Victoria Beckham, then you may have seen her wearing a J12 model. The dive watch for women comes in a black or white ceramic, and is far from being a tennis bracelet.
The new J12 features a Kenissi movement. Chanel bought 20 per cent of the Geneva-based company last January and that investment is paying off with the automatic caliber 12.1, which is COSC-certified. The dials are lacquered to match the case and feature Arabic numerals. Measuring in at 38mm, the watch may be meant for the ladies, but it still has a strong presence.
The bracelet for the watch is also ceramic and features a triple-folding clasp. The J12 comes with a 70-hour power reserve and is water resistant up to 200 metres. The watch offers hours, minutes, hacking seconds, and date functionality.
Now that you know that Chanel is producing some impressive timepieces, don’t hesitate to put down the USD$5,700 needed to buy one of their J12 watches.
