The new PAM 982 is a new Panerai reference that uses the minimalist dial architecture of the PAM 1389 dive watch. The titanium case, which measures 47mm, and movement of the PAM 615 Flyback Chronograph is added into the mix. The Flyback is an in-house developed cal. P.9100 that features a column-wheel flyback chronograph movement that has a three-day power reserve. The face of the watch features a matte blue ceramic bezel and a mottled shark grey dial—the shark grey provides a nice backdrop for the luminous dots and hands for low-light situations.
On the back, you’ll see an etching depicting Nery’s personal best dive of 126 meters on a single breath. The watch is water resistant up to 300 meters. A running seconds counter at 9:00 pairs with the 12-hour totalizer at 3:00. The two screw-in pushers at 8:00 and 10:00 are used to start, stop, and reset the chronograph. The watch comes with a blue rubber strap that closes with a titanium buckle.
Panerai is marketing the watch for serious divers and will most likely keep the run limited. The Nery Edition is listed at EUR€18,900.
