Attention all bourbon buffs! How would you like the opportunity to sample some of the very finest (and rarest) examples of your bourbon of choice? You’d like that very much, you say? Well, in that case, please read on!
Like Santa Claus, but far more exciting, Maker’s Mark head honcho Rob Samuels is coming to town (as in Sydney) on November 16 and while here he’ll be hosting a very special bourbon-tasting event to which you can win yourself a ticket by entering below. As the Managing Director at Maker’s Mark and an eighth-generation member of that iconic distillery’s founding family, Samuels knows a thing or two about bourbon and will guide you through a range of delicious Maker’s Mark liquids over the course of the evening.
As we don’t recommend drinking on an empty stomach, the evening also includes an incredible paired dinner held at Merivale’s event venue Est. set amongst soaring white columns and luxurious settings. In case it couldn’t get any better, the delicious menu has been designed by legendary Aussie chef Peter Doyle. Throughout the night, Samuels will bring forth an exquisite range of bourbons to be sampled by those lucky few in attendance.
Date: 16th of November
Location: Est. Restaurant
Wood Finishing Series & Maker’s Mark 46
In addition to the paired drinks prepared by Charlie Parker’s bartender Giacomo Franceschi, attendees will be guided through several limited release bottles including Maker’s Mark’s brand new Wood Finishing Series 2022/Sydney edition. Designed in Sydney as a reflection of this fabulous emerald city, the bright, vibrant and funky liquid was designed as a collaboration between Maker’s Mark and Merivale’s boss of drinks Sam Egerton alongside chef Jordan Toft (Mimi’s). With limited availability, this tasting is something not to be missed.
Furthermore, Samuels will treat guests to the signature bourbon creation: Maker’s Mark 46, which was recently relaunched with a new bottle design to highlight the brand’s hand made values. After over a decade in its original packaging, the new bottle clarifies what makes the liquid special – it’s proprietary French oaked process that gives Maker’s Mark 46 its characteristic layers of faceted flavour.
Maker’s Mark has long been an industry leader, not only because of the deliciousness that flows from its red wax-tipped bottles, but because of the dedication to innovation that lies at its very core. An impressive example of this was announced in February, when the world-famous Loretto, Kentucky distillery achieved B Corp certification, making it the largest distillery in the world to achieve the distinction.
For those unfamiliar, B Corp Certification means that a business is meeting high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices, input materials, and other crucial environmental and sustainability factors. The fact that Maker’s Mark has been able to clear this bar while continuing to make sensationally delicious bourbon gives us hope that an environmentally friendly future will also see us continuing to sip our favourite beverages.
