The iPhone Duo has changed the usual dress-up sequence after buying a new iPhone. We’ve already rounded up some of the best cases for the iPhone 18 series, but since this is the first foldable iPhone from Apple, buyers now have an entirely new set of phone accessories to consider and compare before choosing the best case.
Right off the bat, it’s 11.3mm thick (compared to the 8.75mm of the iPhone 18 series) when folded. So, before you add anything around it, the hinge needs room to move, so you can’t just spin the wheel on whatever Temu deal is available. Plus, with brands taking a variety of approaches to protecting both halves, there’s a lot more to weigh up if you’re preparing to drop AUD$3,499 on the base model. Some use separate shells, others bridge or cover the hinge, while a few deliberately leave parts of the phone exposed to keep bulk under control. When you’re spending this much on a phone, it’s worth knowing exactly what you’re protecting.
Choosing the best iPhone Duo case is a little more involved than picking a colour, checking for MagSafe compatibility and deciding how much protection you need. Apple kicks us off with two first-party options, an always dependable place to start if you’d rather not crawl the web for alternatives, while Spigen, Mous, PITAKA, Nomad, TORRAS, ESR and Speck are already experimenting with everything from ultra-thin aramid shells and leather folios to automatic hinge covers and rotating stands. So, without further ado, these are the best iPhone Duo cases we’ve found so far.
1/51. Apple iPhone Duo Case
Price: AUD$119
Best for: The straightforward first-party option
Apple’s standard iPhone Duo Case is the zero-fuss option for most buyers. Unlike a conventional iPhone case, it uses a two-part construction that wraps around each half of the Duo independently, leaving the hinge free to do foldable things.
It’s made from polycarbonate with a matte coating and comes in Navy Blue or Sand, with built-in magnets for MagSafe and support for Qi2 25W charging. Apple has also tested it for drops and scratches, though it hasn’t provided a specific drop rating.
At AUD$119, it’s not cheap, but neither is the Duo. So, if you’d rather not think too hard about the fit, charging compatibility or whether the case will interfere with the hinge, this is the obvious starting point.
1/82. Apple iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand
Price: AUD$199
Best for: The first-party folio option
If Apple’s standard Duo Case offers no-fuss protection for your phone, the Folio with Kickstand is where foldable phone accessories start to offer a little more than simply softening the blow. Wrapped in Apple’s TechWoven fabric in either Taupe or Navy Blue, the case adds an integrated stand that props the Duo up at different angles for reading, watching videos or taking FaceTime calls.
The kickstand folds neatly into the back of the case when not in use, and the built-in MagSafe magnets mean you can still use MagSafe or Qi2 25W charging without going naked.
At AUD$199, it’s a fair bit more expensive than Apple’s standard case, but that extra $80 gets you TechWoven fabric and an integrated kickstand. If you plan on using the larger screen for video, calls or desk duty, this is the Apple iPhone Duo case you want to add to your cart.
1/83. Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro S (Mag Fit)
Price: USD$69.99
Best for: Clear protection with MagSafe and a built-in stand
If you’re buying the Duo because you like how the colours look, Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid Pro S lets you show off most of its foldable body instead of burying it under an opaque shell.
Its clear PC and TPU construction keeps the phone visible, while Air Cushion Technology adds shock absorption around the corners for those inevitable knocks and drops. You also get built-in MagFit magnets for MagSafe accessories and wireless charging, along with a rotating kickstand that works in portrait or landscape.
The clever bit is that the stand sits flush against the back when you’re not using it, so it doesn’t add a permanent lump to an already-thick foldable. At USD$69.99, it’s still one of the more affordable options on our list and offers considerably more functionality than your standard clear shell.
1/34. PITAKA iPhone Duo Edge Case
Price: USD$59.99
Best for: Keeping bulk to an absolute minimum
If the thought of wrapping an already-thick foldable in an even thicker case makes your pocket ache, the PITAKA Edge Case goes the other direction with a case that’s only 0.95mm thick. Weighing in at just 15.9g, it’s easily one of the slimmest and lightest case options for the iPhone Duo we’ve found.
But if you thought thin and light was the only reason to pick up a PITAKA case, then let’s talk about the materials. It’s made from aerospace-grade aramid fibre, with the brand’s Mammoth Resin reinforcing the structure without adding too much weight. You also get full MagSafe compatibility and PitaTap, which hides a capacitive layer beneath the aramid weave so Apple’s Camera Control still works without punching a hole through the case.
Of course, something this thin isn’t really trying to compete with the more rugged cases on our list for outright protection. So, if your main concern is preventing your new Duo from becoming even more of a brick when it’s folded shut, this is probably the case to beat.
1/65. Mous Limitless Fold
Price: USD$98.99
Best for: Premium protection without going full rugged
The Mous Limitless Fold uses an interlocking TPU and polycarbonate shell, with AiroShock protection around the corners and aramid fibre reinforcing both the back and front sections. It’s a far more serious approach to protecting the Duo without making it look like it belongs on a construction site.
A single-piece TPU bridge runs across the hinge, connecting both halves and keeping the case together every time you open and close the phone. Mous has also added MagSafe and Qi2 compatibility, increased magnetic strength over the previous generation, and lined the inside with microfibre to help protect the rear glass.
At 41.5g, it’s quite a bit heavier than PITAKA’s featherweight option, but that’s the trade-off for substantially more structure around the phone. If you want something that feels protective without going all the way to a bulky rugged case, the Limitless Fold is probably the sweet spot before you start picking out hard-hatted options. 1/76. TORRAS Ostand Q3 VegSkin
Price: USD$79.99
Best for: Protection with a seriously flexible kickstand
TORRAS takes the built-in stand format and adds a lot more flexibility. The Ostand Q3 VegSkin uses a 360-degree aluminium stand that can hold the Duo anywhere from 30 to 90 degrees vertically or 15 to 165 degrees horizontally, giving you plenty of room to prop the phone up for videos, calls or whatever else you’re doing with that larger foldable screen.
The case itself combines polycarbonate, silicone and microfibre, with TORRAS claiming 8ft drop protection (about 2.5 metres), 1.2mm raised edges around the screen and camera and an 18N magnetic hold for MagSafe accessories. Even with all that hardware, the stand sits completely flush against the back when you’re not using it, keeping pocket bulk to a minimum.
At 3.35mm thick and between 46g and 53.7g, this is definitely one of the more feature-loaded cases on our list. So, if you want a case that can take a knock and turn the Duo into a proper little viewing stand without carrying another accessory, TORRAS makes a pretty convincing case. I just couldn’t help myself.
7. ESR Classic Hybrid Magnetic Case with Flex Stand
Price: AUD$70.93
Best for: A cheaper stand case with proper drop protection
Now let’s move on to a value play from ESR. Its Classic Hybrid Magnetic Case with Flex Stand comes in at just over AUD$70 and still offers a built-in stand, MagSafe compatibility with Qi2 25W charging and a claimed 2.5m drop rating without making your iPhone Duo phone bill even more expensive than it already is.
The stand offers 180 degrees of adjustment, while those Air Guard corners and enhanced hinge coverage give the Duo a bit more protection around the areas most likely to take a knock. The case also keeps the back at 1.5mm thick for less bulk.
You might not get the same rotating flexibility as the TORRAS or quite as much going on with the materials and finish, but for seventy bucks, ESR gets surprisingly close in functionality. If you want a foldable case that covers the basics, adds a proper stand and doesn’t cost a small fortune, ESR makes a strong case for itself.
1/58. Nomad Traditional Leather Folio
Price: AUD$199
Best for: Turning the Duo into a proper leather wallet
The Nomad Traditional Leather Folio takes the foldable format to wallet territory. Instead of hiding the Duo inside a technical shell, it wraps the phone in full-grain Horween leather and adds two card slots. That might not seem like much, but if you’re already handling most of your payments through Apple Wallet and have a digital licence or ID, two physical card slots are plenty.
But it’s the leather that makes this case a more tempting option for anyone who likes their gear to show some wear. The leather is designed to develop a patina over time, so scratches and marks gradually become part of the finish rather than something you immediately want to buff out. You also get MagSafe and Qi2 compatibility, while scooped cutouts keep the buttons accessible without breaking up the full-wrap look.
At AUD$199, it’s tied with Apple’s Folio as one of the more expensive cases here, so really it comes down to which material you prefer: TechWoven or Horween leather, and whether those card slots are more useful to you than a kickstand. If you want the Duo to feel less like a piece of folding tech and more like something you’d happily pull out alongside a nice wallet or watch, this is probably the pick.
1/49. Nomad Mag Leather Back
Price: AUD$89
Best for: Keeping the leather look without wrapping the whole phone
Nomad goes back-to-back on our list with a different approach to the iPhone Duo with the Mag Leather Back. Instead of building a full case around both halves of the foldable, it attaches to the back with MagSafe magnets and reusable microsuction patches, leaving the front half completely exposed to keep it as slim as possible. You can still charge through the panel with MagSafe or Qi2.
The backplate is only 2.2mm thick and uses the same Horween leather as Nomad’s folio option, so you still get that delightful patina over time. A raised camera ring adds a little extra protection where it counts. And that’s where the trade-off becomes official. Nomad explicitly says this isn’t a drop-protection case.
But if you’ve already decided the Duo is thick enough and mostly want to keep scratches off the back while adding a bit of leather, the Mag Leather Back is probably the most stripped-back option on this list. Best to keep a tight grip on your Duo with this one.
1/610. Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold MagSafe
Price: USD$64.99
Best for: Clear protection with automatic hinge coverage
The Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold is another, more engineered version of the clear-case formula. The hinge isn’t exposed, and the case hasn’t been split in two; it uses a one-piece design with an automatic hinge cover that moves with the Duo as you open and close it. That clear shell features Speck’s impact technology to absorb everyday knocks, while anti-yellowing materials and a scratch-resistant coating help keep the case looking, hopefully, as good as it did when you bought it. Built-in MagSafe magnets also keep charging and accessories in the mix.
At USD$64.99, it sits in a useful middle ground between the cheaper clear options and the more expensive protective cases on this list. If you want to keep the Duo visible but don’t want the hinge flapping in the breeze, Speck’s automatic cover makes this a strong choice for your foldable iPhone.
Other iPhone Duo Cases Worth Considering
Beyond the ten iPhone Duo cases on our list, a few familiar brands are still worth keeping on your radar if none of our picks fit your specific requirements.
dbrand
The dbrand Grip Case for the iPhone Duo is probably the strongest alternative of the bunch. Starting at USD$54.90, it combines dedicated hinge protection, MagSafe support, a capacitive Camera Control button, and a 2mm profile, plus more than 40 interchangeable skins if you want to change the look later. It’s currently available to pre-order, with shipping expected in early October.
Tech21
These guys already have two Duo options: the EvoClear MagSafe and EvoCrystal, both priced at AUD$79.95. Both use a one-piece design with automatic hinge closure, but the main difference is that the EvoClear is fully transparent, while EvoCrystal adds a darker tint. They’re useful alternatives if you like the Speck approach but want another clear-case option.
OtterBox
OtterBox has an iPhone Duo version of the Defender Series Pro XT, bringing its usual rugged focus to Apple’s foldable with an articulating hinge, port covers, grippy edges and built-in magnets. It’s currently listed as Coming Soon, so keep your eyes peeled for when it drops if you’re set on the OtterBox.
BURGA

Which iPhone Duo Case Should You Buy?
As always, the easiest place to start is at the Apple Store. The standard Duo case is the no-fuss option if you just want something designed around the phone from day one. As for the Folio with Kickstand, get it if you’ll actually use that larger folding screen for videos, calls, desk duty, or StandBy as a bedside clock. Or you just love the TechWoven fabric look and feel.
From there, it really comes down to what you care about most: protection, profile or pocketability. PITAKA keeps bulk to a minimum; Mous adds more serious protection, while TORRAS and ESR both add kickstands without making the Duo completely unwieldy, unsightly or unshapely. Spigen and Speck are the obvious picks if you want to keep the phone visible underneath the case, whereas Nomad’s leather options cater to two very different buyers: full folio protection or barely any case at all.
Since this is the first time iPhone buyers have had to shop for a foldable case, there probably isn’t a single best iPhone Duo case yet. But that’s what makes this first generation so exciting. Brands are still figuring out the best way to protect a foldable iPhone without ruining the reason you bought one in the first place. Pick the level of protection, bulk and functionality you’re comfortable with, then go from there. With a starting price of AUD$3,499, are you really that worried about how much the case will cost? Might as well buy two.
