Inspired by the upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die, the 2022 Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition is a sleek, stealthy black number that is limited to just 300 units worldwide. Say what you will about the long wait time for the flick, but Land Rover’s handy little surprise might just be enough to tide us over.

James Bond ‘No Time To Die’ Officially Delayed Again
Wrapped in a midnight black finish, the new Defender V8 Bond Edition is inspired by the very SUV that appears in the long-awaited film. As the cavalcade of trailers and teasers have shown us over the past two years, No Time to Die, the 25th instalment of the classic James Bond spy franchise will be heavily weighted towards off-road adventure. In almost every clip of the forthcoming film, you’re met with a visual assault of twisted metal and Land Rover action, so it’s little surprise the iconic automaker wanted to celebrate the release of the final trailer.
“The Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition is an exclusive take on the most powerful production Defender ever made, inspired by vehicles on screen in No Time To Die,” said Finbar McFall, Land Rover brand director. “It represents a meeting of two great British brands and is a unique celebration of Land Rover’s 38-year association with James Bond.”
On the outside, the 2022 Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition is every bit a Bond icon, dressed in a sharp black suit. The SUV includes a black pack detailing with 22-inch Luna gloss black allow wheels, xenon blue front brake callipers and a unique “Defender 007” badge on the rear.
Under the hood, it cops a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, which dishes out an impressive 518hp and 461 lb-ft of torque. Like its less-famous stablemates, the 007-spec SUV is highlighted by an eight-speed automatic transmission, with capabilities for a top speed of 149 mph and acceleration from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds. But as we all know, Bond cars aren’t exactly known for their power, instead, it’s the gadgets.
While the latest release doesn’t come with a Hubcap Laser like the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante in The Living Daylights or the utterly ridiculous Invisibility Cloak as seen on the Aston Martin Vanquish in Die Another Day, it does come with a host of new tech. Upon start-up, the Defender includes a special touchscreen animation, to go along with the 007 puddle lamp graphics and illuminated treadplates.
At $100,000, the standard-spec Defender doesn’t come cheap and understandably, the 2022 Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition raises the bar even further. Land Rover has listed the starting price at USD$114,600.
