Luxury automaker Aston Martin definitely brought out the big guns at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. In addition to introducing the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept SUV and AM-BR 003 hypercar, the brand resurrected an iconic nameplate with the Vanquish Vision Concept. Putting McLaren and Ferrari in its head beams, this stunning model represents Aston Martin’s first series production mid-engined supercar. As you might have guessed, it pairs curvaceous design and advanced features to powerful effect.
The mid-engined supercar market is one of the hottest in the automotive world right now, and who is Aston Martin to miss out? As such, the Vanquish Vision Concept provides an ambitious glimpse of things to come, with production scheduled for 2022. Highlights include bespoke bonded aluminium architecture (in lieu of carbon fibre) and a new V6 engine. It all amounts to a fast, lightweight, and supremely aerodynamic ride, and one that opts for a lean and classical aesthetic.
While less extreme than say the new AM-BR 003 hypercar, the Vanquish Vision Concept pushes Aston Martin into new territory. More details will emerge as development progresses. Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer Max Szwaj explained, “The full engineering story of this car is yet to be told, but what you see here should tell you this car will not only compete at the highest level, but it will do so in a manner and style unique to Aston Martin.” Sounds good to us!
