Brabus 900 Rocket Edition Claims ‘World’s Fastest SUV’ Title

With a whopping 900HP at the crank and a top speed of 205mph, the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition lays claim to the title of ‘world’s fastest SUV’. A bold title from the German manufacturer who loves to put a target on its back when it comes to building the fastest ‘street legal’ cars in the world. We love the extravagant carbon features, bold wheel design and custom interior, however, what we can’t get our head around, are the comparatively tiny exhaust tips.

Brabus 900 Rocket Edition

Based on the Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S 4MATIC Coupe, it’s fairly apparent that the 900 Rocket Edition oozes almost toxic levels of gaudiness. It doesn’t matter what angle you choose, you’ll find something that only belongs on such an outrageous vehicle. From its 24-inch BRABUS Monoblock “Platinum Edition” Z high-tech forged wheels finished with Aero Discs, to its bright red interior and carbon exterior accents it screams aggressiveness. And what it packs under the bonnet is equally serious.

Engine

When it comes to tuning brands, most won’t venture beyond the old ‘tune and exhaust’ combination – think every modified VW Golf on the road. Others such as Brabus go the extra mile by extracting the full potential of the engine with upgraded turbochargers and internal components. Here in the case of the 900 Rocket Edition, Brabus adds the full parts catalogue, extracting so much power that they have to electronically limited the torque of the engine to save gearbox and driveline components. The displacement of the engine has been increased to 4.5litres with the use of CNC milled components and the turbochargers have been modified to suit.

  • A solid milled and finely balanced special crankshaft with a stroke of 100 mm
  • 8 full milled special connecting rod
  • 8 forged pistons for bore 84,00 mm and adapted compression height
  • 2 x BRABUS special turbocharger with larger compressor unit (52mm diameter) and two modified core assemblies with reinforced axial bearings
  • 2x high-pressure fuel pump with increased output
  • Booster pump packages for low-pressure circle
  • Down Pipe Ø 75 mm
  • Back-pressure reducing BRABUS metal catalyst system
  • BRABUS BoostXtra – Blow Off valve adapter

Interior

The interior of the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition matches the gaudy exterior with red accents and carbon throughout. Completely re-trimmed and tailored to the customer’s preferences, you’d struggle to find a piece on the interior that hasn’t been touched. We particularly love the floor mats, shifting paddles, and attention to detail found in the door lock pins, and pedals.

  • 4 door covers incl. storage compartments in leather
  • Middle console incl. armrest in leather
  • Dashboard, A-,B-,C-columns, Headliner finished in leather/Alcantara
  • AMG steering wheel outer rim and wheel airbag in leather
  • Floor mats in leather
  • BRABUS design appointment Interior in “Rocket Red Glazing” (206 pcs.)
  • BRABUS shifting paddles RACE
  • Illuminated BRABUS logo, LED-technology with colour change:
  • BRABUS door lock pins aluminium, 4-pieces, with double “B” and knurled shaft
  • BRABUS Aluminium pedal pads 2-pieces, Aluminium matt

It’s worth noting that to achieve the claimed top speed of 205mph the car must be fitted with 23-inch BRABUS Monoblock Y “Platinum Edition” forged wheels and Continental high-performance tires. We can’t even begin to imagine how much these would cost, especially when you consider the included Vredestein tires in 355 rear width cost AU$1000 each. The Conti’s and forged wheels would be upwards of $20,000 easy. Regardless, with only 25 Brabus 900 Rocket Editions to be built, expect these to sell out almost instantly and fall into the hands of the mega-rich Rodeo Drive flex’ers.
