Lexus All-New UX Compact Crossover Lands Another Blow
When Lexus came onto the market, it was in direct competition to BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Lexus is keeping the fight going with their new UX Compact Crossover. This new addition is another heavy body blow to the competition.
The UX debuted at the 2018 Geneva auto show. Not too much information has been shared about the UX, but it does appear promising. Likely, the UX will be available with a 2.0 liter gasoline inline-four engine and as a hybrid version. Guesses at the interior hint at the cabin being advanced and focused on driver comfort and efficiency. According to the press release, the UX will feature “3D Human Machine Interface technology.” What that means exactly is unknown, but it is described as a “uniquely immersive driver experience.”
The press release also reveals that the UX features electro-chromatic windows. The door windows have been replaced with e-mirror camera housings, which display their images on internal screens. The switchgear is electrostatic.
While details may be sparse as of yet regarding the UX, it does promise to be both innovative and luxurious. Lexus has a track record of delivering exciting and high quality vehicles that rival any of the luxury vehicles on the market. BMW and Mercedes needs to watch out—Lexus is gunning for them.
