Even if you go with just the standard fare, you’ll still get such things as 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension damping, and a front brush guard on the outside. Inside, you’ll be treated to three-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and heated front and rear seats. Beyond the luxury that is synonymous with Mercedes, you also get the kind of performance that lets you speed down the Autobahn or climb rocks off road. The G-63 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine with an output of 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. The engine feeds into a nine-speed automatic gearbox that is controlled via paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. The rig is an all-wheel-drive system with low-range gearing as standard, along with three locking differentials. The G-63 can hit 60 miles per hour from 0 in just 3.9 seconds. Additionally, the G-Wagen can tow up to 6,500 pounds.
Back on the inside, you’ll find a 12.0-inch digital instrument panel that interfaces with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The G-63 features a surround-view camera system, and for a subscription fee, you can get the Mercedes-Benz connected car service, which comes with basic features like remote engine starting and stolen vehicle tracking. There’s 38 cubic feet of cargo space, which can be almost doubled when you fold down the rear seats. There’s also plenty of space for both head and leg room.
