Your target has been identified. The contact will meet you at the marked destination. M is monitoring the operation from MI6 headquarters, and Q has made sure you’ve got everything you need for the mission. There’s just one thing left to do: pack your suitcase.
Fortunately, Globe-Trotter has just released a new 007 collection to mark 20 years since Daniel Craig first stepped into the role of James Bond in Casino Royale. And when you’re the world’s greatest secret agent, what’s another AUD $6,600 of MI6’s money for a suitcase?
The limited-edition Black & Ivory four-wheel carry-on is the collection’s centrepiece, with Bond’s winning poker hand from Casino Royale embossed on its ivory leather straps. But the suitcase is only the beginning. There’s a six-slot watch case, packing cubes, passport and card holders, and even a matching attaché briefcase for your other hand. By the time you’ve packed for your next assignment, you could be making your way through the terminal with AUD $19,000 worth of Globe-Trotter luggage and accessories.
1/7A $6,600 Case With a Winning Hand
Q has promised us he hasn’t packed anything too explosive, so the Casino Royale Black & Ivory Carry-On should have plenty of room for all your gadgets.
Handcrafted in England, the case uses Globe-Trotter’s signature black vulcanised fibreboard, with contrasting ivory leather straps running across the exterior. Embossed into those straps is Bond’s winning hand from Casino Royale: an eight-high straight flush in spades. A nice reminder of what happened the last time he sat across a poker table from Le Chiffre. Let’s hope you don’t need his help scratching anything private.
Inside, you’ll find a bespoke lining with further references to the 2006 film, with vegetable-tanned leather trims and reinforced corners to complete the familiar Globe-Trotter construction. Now, Bond might not be the world’s most discreet spy, but at least his luggage shows some restraint. The film references are there for anyone who knows where to look, rather than plastered across the case like merchandise from the cinema gift shop.
The suitcase measures 56 x 42 x 21 cm and features 39 litres of packing space, four wheels and a telescopic handle to get you through the terminal. At 4.2 kg before you’ve packed anything, you’ll want to keep an eye on the luggage allowance.
1/12Packing for Your Next Mission
With your suitcase sorted, it’s time to decide what goes inside. And if there’s one thing Bond doesn’t travel without, it’s a good watch. Well, six of them, to be precise.
Globe-Trotter’s Casino Royale 6-Slot Watch Case costs AUD $4,600, just over a third of the price of the new AUD $13,575 OMEGA James Bond and Spectre Seamaster Diver 300M. That’s a lot to spend on somewhere to store your watches before you’ve even bought one. At least you’ve got enough slots to transport your favourite watches from the Daniel Craig series, with the new one vying for a place.
Next are the essentials. The collection includes three grey packing cubes, priced at AUD $300 for the small and AUD $400 each for the medium and large. There’s also a passport sleeve and credit card holder at AUD $700 apiece, because even secret agents have to get through immigration and pay for the occasional martini.
For the finishing touches to the Casino Royale ensemble, Globe-Trotter has an AUD $400 luggage tag and three AUD $400 charms inspired by a martini glass, poker chip and playing cards. In case you need a more expensive way to dress up your luggage.
Finally, there’s the Casino Royale Small Attaché. At AUD $3,700, it’s a matching briefcase to carry in your other hand, giving you a proper way to transport classified documents out of the country.
And there you have it. Your suitcase is packed, your watches are accounted for and MI6 is AUD $19,000 poorer. All that’s left is to collect your boarding pass and make your way across the tarmac towards the private jet.
Try not to lose the luggage before you reach Montenegro.
