The new poster does a great job of not presenting us with too much yet giving enough to go by for days. The teaser art shows Iñaki Godoy as our protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, who can be seen sporting his signature straw hat and a red vest, waving his fist against a radiant sunset view of the ocean. Eagle-eyed viewers would have also spotted a small seagull wearing a hat flying away into the sun. In the One Piece universe, these medium-sized seagulls are known as a News Coo, whose job is to deliver newspapers and wanted posters around the world. Gotta stay updated fellas!
Netflix’s live-action One Piece series will draw inspiration from the 1997 manga series created by Eiichiro Oda, who’s also the executive producer for the project. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda will act as executive producers for the series, with Tomorrow Studios producing the whole project.
As revealed earlier, the upcoming Netflix series will star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Other cast members include McKinley Belcher III, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Vincent Regan, Jeff Ward, Craig Fairbrass, Langley Kirkwood, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Chioma Umeala and Steven Ward.
The Japanese manga series One Piece revolves around the life of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Red-Haired Shanks, to set off on a journey from the East Blue Sea to find the legendary treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the King of the Pirates. We can’t wait to catch up with Luffy on this new journey and find out what he’s up to.
