For the past 15 years, Venue 505 has provided a home for the Sydney arts community to present live music to Sydneysiders. This intimate artist-run venue is known for showcasing new work from local composers and performers and big names. All of which perform a wide range of genres and styles. This place is more than just your typical jazz bar/lounge room it’s a place where you can eat, drink and experience some of the best musical talents that Sydney has to offer.

Venue 505

Foundry 616 is one of the most well-known bars in Sydney to enjoy some jazz on pretty much any night of the week. Since 2013, Foundry 616 has showcased the best in contemporary jazz and jazz-oriented music from the best stars from here and abroad. The large club has a sophisticated European and American feel, that also includes a bar and bistro area so you can enjoy some food and drinks while experiencing some of the best jazz Sydney has to offer.

Foundry 616

Lazybones Lounge is located in the centre of Marrickville. Most known for the live music of all genres that are played here every night across two floors, it’s also known for its amazing restaurant and bar. Some of Australia’s finest live jazz performers like Steve Hunter and the Sonic Mayhem Orchestra have played here and many more continue to. With gigs every night you’d be crazy not to come and experience the amazing talent on show here.

Lazybones Lounge|

The Hero of Waterloo is one of Sydney’s many heritage pubs. What sets them apart from others in Sydney is the fact that for the past 170 years they’ve been providing the best live jazz music entertainment with the best spirits available. This sandstone pub not only offers some amazing food and drinks but the experience to eat while watching performances from The Old Time Band and Norfolk ‘n’ Goode plus many more amazing artists.

The Hero of Waterloo

The Swinging Cat effortlessly channels the classic New Orleans jazz vibe and brings it to Sydney in a dimly lit underground space that’s full of character. There’s a small food menu with items like cured meats and some charcuterie boards. The drinks menu here is full of New Orleans staples, with traditional Sazeracm whiskey, cognac and even vermouth. Enjoy all this while listening to some swinging jazz music, with amazing jazz performers playing almost every night.

The Swinging Cat

For the past 13 years, the Camelot Lounge has showcased some of the best Australian and world-renowned jazz artists who all play different varieties of this music. The Camelot Lounge is a multi-generational space that has 2 amazing stages, you’ll find people of all ages dancing to and enjoying the variety of performances that are played out on both stages.

Camelot Lounge

Johnston Street Jazz is the reincarnation of the popular Colbourne Avenue in Glebe. When it closed in Glebe audiences were disappointed, yet because it was so popular with audiences they decided to open up again in a new location. The vibe is the same as the previous venue and you’ll still see well known, interstate, international and even emerging musicians play. Johnston Street Jazz is where you want to be if you love to hear and see amazing live performances.

Johnstone Street Jazz

The Vanguard has been the venue of choice for some of the best local and international jazz artists for the last 18 years. Whether you are into African jazz, blues or even swing you’ll find it played live at the Vanguard. With its tasteful and elegant décor and one of the best sound systems, it is no surprise that it has been acknowledged as one of the best jazz bars in the city. Food and drinks are also available here, so all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the different styles of jazz that are played here.

The Vanguard

Palmer & Co is a subterranean bar that’s inspired by the speakeasies of the roaring 1920s. As you walk downstairs to the underground bar you’ll be transported to a different time, with the classic décor, the extensive menu of spirits and cocktails and even food to the live music played here. Live jazz bands play from Wednesday to Sunday nights capturing that 1920s era.
