Listen to the ’80s with the Stranger Things Spotify Playlist

One of the more appealing aspects of Netflix’s popular series Stranger Things is its sense of nostalgia created by including all things ‘80s. That definitely holds true to the series’ soundtrack. Spotify has created its own Stranger Things Spotify Playlist, bringing all the songs from the series together into one spot.

This isn’t a new idea. According to the streaming service, since the series launched on July 15, 2016, more than 17 million hours of music related to the show have been streamed by fans. There has also been plenty of people creating character-specific playlists. Eleven leads the pack with the most playlists, but Steve Harrington isn’t far behind with Will Byers coming in third.

Of course, the Upside Down has plenty of playlists as well—3,500 and counting. “Should I Stay or Should I Go” from The Clash and sung by Will when he was trapped in the Upside Down during season one is the most streamed track from the show. The show’s theme, by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, comes in second. The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” comes in third.

Spotify’s Stranger Things playlist has 30 tracks. It includes the aforementioned tracks—including Will singing “Should I Stay or Should I Go”—and adds in many recognisable songs as well. You’ll find “Africa” by Toto, “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim” by Jim Croce, Devo’s “Whip It”, “Runaway” by Bon Jovi, and the Scorpions “Rock You Like a Hurricane.”

There are tracks from Cyndi Lauper, Peter Gabriel, The Romantics, Duran Duran, Olivia Newton-John, and more. There are even tracks of the show’s characters quotes, like Eleven’s “Friends Don’t Lie,” and Dustin’s “She’s Our Friend and She’s Crazy!”

With season three available for your binge-watching pleasure, don’t forget to download your own playlist to remind you of the fabulous ‘80s and all its strange things.
