Sesame Street-Ball: Curry Brand Dishes the Assist to Your Favourite Monsters

Play big! It’s the overarching mentality we should be encouraging in today’s youth, particularly the next generation of sporting legends. Give it your all and make it count, at least, that’s what Curry Brand by Steph Curry is thinking. The celebrated label powered by Under Armour, has launched a new seven-part Avante-Garde footwear collection inspired by the spirit of Sesame Street’s iconic Muppets TV show.

Inspiring young athletes around the world, the three-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP Steph Curry has once again amalgamated forces with Under Armour. This time around, Curry is offering basketball aficionados a new collection of bright footwear that embraces the concepts of joy, laughter and playing together- all in which most definitely directly correlate with the spirit of Basketball. In partnership with Sesame Streets nonprofit education organisation, Sesame Workshop, the beloved and well-known brand has been able to release a footwear collection that celebrates Harlem and all of its rich history with basketball culture, particularly with the youth of today and yesteryears.

“Anybody who knows Harlem knows what it means to the game of basketball, so we wanted to support a rejuvenation of the spirit that was born there.” – Steph Curry.

Under Armour and Curry have designed each individual shoe around the Sesame Street characters, playing particular note to their bright and boisterous colours. The striking colourway of the shoe complements the unique personalities of the characters on the show enabling each individual who wears them to shred the court all while looking stylish whilst doing so- it’s safe to say that this collection is guaranteed to catch the gaze of eyes both on and off the court.

Each shoe has been carefully constructed with minor detail at the forefront of the design, which is noted by the unique markings on the shoe’s upper tab which in turns complements the character-flare toward the heel of each shoe. On top of the minor details that have been embedded into the design, the “Play Big” concept is most noticeably represented by the striking yellow flag towards the heel of the shoe, ultimately drawing a direct correlation to the large psychical presence of Big Bird himself.

Constructed using the basis of the court-time favourites, the Curry Flow 9, the Street Collection maintains UA Flow’s Technology providing that consistent feel from other UA shows allowing each player to sprint, shoot and change direction with ease.

At its core, the new campaign is all about promoting health, life, laughter and love for the kids of the game that cherish it so dearly… oh and if you thought they were just for kids don’t be worried- they come in all adults sizing allowing you to channel your inner child on and off the court.
