Ferrari F1 Star Charles Leclerc has $436,000 Richard Mille Watch Stolen in Italy

Ferrari’s Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc had his watch stolen by a fan in Italy over the Easter weekend. According to a report in The Sun, fans swarmed the current World Championship leader after he was spotted strolling the streets in the Tuscan City of Viareggio. Whilst signing autographs, a sneaky thief managed to grab his AUD$436,000 Richard Mille timepiece.

According to reports, the swarming mob managed to distract Leclerc, who didn’t notice his watch had been taken until later. Immediately reporting the incident to the police, the authorities are now investigating and trying to figure out whether the robber was opportunistic or premeditated. Walking with Leclerc that night was his athletic trainer Andrea Ferrari, who is from Viareggio and took to social media to vent his frustration at the lack of lighting in Via Salvatori.
“Via Salvatori has been completely in the dark for months. We have been reporting this for months,” the trainer said in an Instagram story. “Well, yesterday evening in Via Salvatori, they have robbed us. Think of arranging the lamps sooner or later? Asking for a friend.”
The watch in question is a Richard Mille 67-02, which has been personalised to represent the Monegasque flag. As a long term sponsor of the young gun, we have no doubts another model is already in the mail. This isn’t the first time an F1 driver has been robbed of a Richard Mille piece. McLaren’s Lando Norris was mugged at Wembley Stadium following last year’s Euro 2020 final, losing his AUD$75,000 watch in the process.
Ferrari will be hoping the incident doesn’t affect Leclerc’s performance at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend. The 24-year-old is off to an incredible start to the season, already nabbing victories in Bahrain and Australia. He currently leads the drivers championship by 34 points.
