Dyson Cements Its Status As A Hair Care Juggernaut With New Airsmooth Hot Brush

At this point, Dyson is now considered as much of a hair care brand as it is a vacuum cleaner brand. The SuperSonic Hair Dryer back in 2016 was a real game changer in that regard.

Now, Dyson has solidified that place in the market today by announcing new additions to its hair care range. The most exciting new product is the Dyson Airsmooth, which is set to save people so much time in the morning while making sure their hair looks fresh.

What Is A Hot Brush?

I had the same question. It’s kind of the lovechild between a hairbrush and a hair dryer. The Airsmooth isn’t the first time Dyson has put a brush on a drying attachment, with the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x anti-snag 2x loopbrush allowing users to brush dry damp hair.

There are a few things that make the Airsmooth special compared to other hot brushes on the market:

• You can use the Airsmooth on wet hair. So, get out of the shower, rub your hair with a towel, brush it dry and then you’re good to go. Saves so much time on the morning routine.
• The “anti-snag bristle technology” means that even if you did skip the conditioner today and just used an 8-in-1 shampoo, body wash and chain degreaser on your hair, it shouldn’t pull or get caught in tangles as much as a regular brush would.
• Most other hot brushes are either regular-shaped hair brushes that are good for straightening hair, or volumising brushes to give you the kind of beachy waves the original Charlie’s Angels could only achieve by spraying an ozone layer’s worth of hair spray. This Airsmooth’s shape is somewhere in the middle, allowing all hair types to get what they need to either create volume or just a neat hairstyle with ease.
• The exciting feature for curly and coily-haired people is the PivotFlex bristles with an open-base design to diffuse the airflow. Those of us with curly hair know that using anything other than a diffuser will lead to wispy, fairy floss-like, ‘I just got electrocuted’ hair. The built-in diffusion should combat that.

Is The Dyson Airsmooth Good?

Back in June, I was lucky enough to get to visit Dyson’s R&D campus in Singapore to try out all the products the company announced today at IFA. The Airsmooth was one of the standouts because it’s so easy to use.

I have curly, colour-damaged hair that looks as tired and frazzled as I am. The Airsmooth was light to hold and easy to wield. I really noticed the diffusion in how easily it dealt with my flyaways, making it look like they had never existed and had always been uniform. Putting some of the Dyson Omega hydrating hair oil on my hair before brushing really helped get it all under control, too.

Because my hair is curly, and I’d just spent 8 hours on a flight, my hair was also full of tangles. Normally when I brush I have to brace myself for a lot of pulling, starting brushing from the bottom and slowly working my way up. I didn’t have that issue with the Airsmooth, so I think that dual loop-bristle design might be as effective as they say.

Another thing I appreciated is that while it was easy for me to just do the basic brushing that I wanted, people around me who were more advanced users were able to set waves and do more interesting moves with the brush with a similar level of ease. Because it’s a brush that’s also doing the heating, there’s no having to wield two different devices to achieve a goal, so it’s much more straightforward to understand what you need to do, and get it done in a shorter period of time. I’m told the MyDyson app will be updated to have some tutorials to help people learn some more advanced hot brush moves when they get their hands on the AirSmooth.

What Hair Care Products Did Dyson Announce At IFA?

If hot hair products aren’t your thing, then the Dyson Corrale CoolShine hair straightener is right up your alley. Using heat to straighten hair damages it, and while the usual Dyson Corrale has heat sensors to try and reduce that, it’s not enough for some hair types. The Dyson Corrale CoolShine cooling attachment promises to cause “up to 29 per cent less damage” and “up to 154% more shine”, so take that for what you will.

When Is The Dyson AirSmooth Available?

The Dyson Airsmooth hot brush is available for $399 from 9am on the 4th of September 2026. The Dyson Corrale CoolShine hair straightener is going to be $499 from November 2026.
