Mars Bars and Snickers Go Green: New Paper-Based Wrappers Hit Aussie Shelves

Mars Wrigley, the company behind Mars Bars and Snickers, has introduced new recyclable paper-based packaging for their chocolate bars in Australia. This move is part of their sustainability efforts to eliminate 360 tonnes of plastic across their value chain by 2025. The paper-based packaging will allow chocolate lovers to recycle the wrappers through everyday kerbside recycling bins. The Aussie market is the first in the world to have this packaging, and it is now available at major retailers and convenience stores.

To launch Mars Bars and Snickers as the ‘Biggest Thing in Wrap in 2023’, established Australian rap artist and proud Gomeroi man – Kobie Dee – has partnered with Mars Wrigley to promote the new packaging and the importance of sustainability.

“As a proud Aboriginal man, caring and protecting Country is something very important to me. Aboriginal people have a strong connection to land and Country and we need to do what we can to protect and sustain it,” Kobie Dee said.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with this iconic brand, and take my fans on a journey with me to learn more about sustainability and the impact that innovation and technology can have in helping us care for the environment.”
