According to the brand, the event has been on the calendar for quite some time. In preparation for the big day, Krispy Kreme is glazing 2,000 Original Glazed doughnuts per hour on its production line. Nicola Steele, retail director at Krispy Kreme Australia revealed that while upmarket collaborations have been the flavour of the month recently, the special event called for an old favourite.

“National Doughnut Day is our absolute favourite day of the year – we love sharing the joy of our famous Original Glazed doughnuts and relish the chance to put a smile on our customers’ faces,” Steele said.

Perhaps the most deserving of the deal, Melburnians won’t be left out in the cold. Despite the 4 June date, Krispy Kreme has confirmed that due to the current lockdown restrictions in Melbourne, there will merely be a delay in celebrating National Doughnut Day in Victoria. “Krispy Kreme can’t wait to celebrate with Victorians but for now, is monitoring the situation closely and seeking to keep staff and customers as safe as possible until the authorities advise a change in restrictions,” the chain wrote.

For New South Welshmen, however, it’s a free for all.Doughnut-lovers can visit any participating Krispy Kreme Australia shop to grab their free doughnut on 4 June to celebrate.
