Since 1978, 25 Martin Place has stood tall as a defining monument on the Sydney skyline. Designed by visionary architect Harry Seidler, the CBD building was once the tallest skyscraper in the Southern Hemisphere, however, new plans are set to see the building revamped. According to developer Dexus, the development is currently in the final stages, with the build expected to be completed in 2022.

Over 50 new retail outlets will be added to the 8,000 square metre precinct, with access from both Castlereagh and King Streets. Further, the new precinct will be headlined by a suite of new al fresco dining experiences, overlooking the iconic Martin Place. The new restaurants will join Good Group Hospitality’s Botswana Butchery, Nour Group’s Aalia and Japanese restaurant Kazan. Among them, New Zealand favourite delight White + Wong’s.

Taking takes classic street foods from China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand, the new restaurant will create an eclectic menu to pick and choose from. In addition to the expansive menu, the restaurant is also set to bring its unique Sardine Bar concept to 25 Martin Place. The cocktail bars carry a thoughtfully chosen wine list which includes French and local bubbles, a vast range of white, rosé and red wines plus non-alcoholic options as well.

“We’re excited to bring White + Wong’s and Sardine Cocktail brands to Sydney after many years of brand success in Auckland and Queenstown. The Modern Asian cuisine of White + Wong’s reflects the delicate balance between sweet and sour, salty and spicy that makes the style of cuisine so distinctive and delicious.

“These new restaurants and bars support the exciting transformation of 25 Martin Place, invigorating the precinct with an al fresco setting overlooking Martin Place in the heart of the city for everyone to enjoy, including the office workers, shoppers, theatre-goers and tourists alike,” Dexus head of retail and healthcare leasing Eddie Giraldo said.

On completion, 25 Martin Place is projected to generate over 300 new retail, hospitality and theatre jobs and attract locals and tourists to the city’s centre each day. The $170 million redevelopment of the 25 Martin Place precinct is expected to be completed in 2022.
