You Can’t Outrun the Dubai Police’s New Lamborghini Urus Performante

When you’re living in a city full of supercars you need serious metal to fight crime. The Dubai Police are upgrading accordingly, moving on from their basic Lamborghini Urus to the new and faster Urus Performante for the new year. The twin-turbo V8 produces the same 666 CV of power and 850 Nm of torque as it does in the civilian car, and it still sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds before going on to a top speed of 306 km/h, but the police have added an armoured gun box. So there’s that… amongst other things.

This is one of many Lamborghinis the Dubai Police have used over the years, including the Urus mentioned above and a V12-powered Aventador. However, no car has been more impressive than the Bugatti Veyron which held the title for ‘World’s Fastest Car’ at the time, boasting a top speed of 253 mph (407 km/h).

As you might have guessed, these cars are little more than a piece of attention-grabbing PR for the Dubai Police who typically cruise around the Dubai Mall area looking for attention from tourists. In the words of General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, acting commander-in-chief, of Dubai Police “The high-performance Super SUV was added as part of Dubai Police’s efforts to increase the number of patrol officers across Dubai. The new Lamborghini Urus Performante will support Dubai police in their commitment to better serve residents, maintain social safety and security, and provide services in popular tourist destinations.”

Tourists should be on the lookout for the new Urus Performante which stands out with a classic green with white livery and noticeable logos on the bonnet and side doors, but also a rear spoiler fitted with blue 360° LED lights and an electric siren, an armoured gun box in the passenger compartment, fold-down message display, compartment in the boot for service equipment, and a defibrillator.

If you want to get your hands on a Lamborghini Urus Performante in Australia, you’re looking at AU$465,876 plus on-road costs and options at dealerships.
