This $100,000 Mini ‘Super Cooper’ is Made for Bruce Wayne

We’ve been following the folks at Gildred Racing from afar since we witnessed their 500HP RWD Luxury Mini scare the socks off Matt Farah from TheSmokingTire last year. The shop specialises in VTEC (Honda) powered Mini Coopers and for the small fee of $100,000 USD, they’ll transform these heritage nuggets into luxury automobiles with modern features and plenty of power to boot. You should’ve seen the smile on our face then when we woke to see a video review on their latest high dollar build – perfect for Bruce Wayne.

Think $100,000 is a bit steep? You should see the price of this 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition.

While a budget of $100,000 will cover you for a bespoke build of your own particular taste, this Super Cooper is more luxury weekender than an all-out drag-racer. Gildred Racing has gone to town on the interior, incorporating new bits and pieces pulled from the best brands in the business, including a late model R53 Mini;

  • Power Glass Moonroof (R53 Mini)
  • Keyless Start/ Entry
  • Centre Console with Cup Holders (R53 Mini)
  • Automatic Climate Control
  • 11-speaker Stereo w/ Subwoofer
  • Alpine head unit w/ Carplay

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better built classic Mini on the road today, and we haven’t even spoken about the engine yet. While they primarily specialise in Honda-powered classics, Gildred Racing also offers bespoke power packages that utilise Supercharging, Turbocharging, and even D16, B18, K20 and J32 swaps with forced induction. They also tune the factory 1275 A-series if you’re looking to keep the purity alive.

In this Super Cooper, the owner opted for a D16Y8 ‘Stage 3’ kit that mates the 160HP engine to the factory Honda 5-speed all controlled via electronic engine management software. Weighing in at only 1600lbs (or 720kg in our money) it finds the perfect balance between cruiser and weekender – IF you can fit in it – just ask Matt Farah. Check out the video above to see it running in all its glorious self, the pictures below to froth over the interior, and order your own via the link below!
