It’s true that the best watches of this year’s US Open were mostly worn off the court, but that didn’t stop the world’s best tennis players from putting some ultra-exclusive mechanical horology on their wrists to celebrate. Following his victory at the 146th US Open to capture his second career Grand Slam title, Alexander Zverev accepted the championship trophy wearing Jacob & Co.’s ‘The World Is Yours’ Dual Time Zone Tourbillon. While Zverev competed on-court with a customised, piece-unique Jacob & Co. Epic X Skeleton fitted on an elastic performance strap, his post-match choice showcased a bit of a shift toward personal storytelling and the heritage-driven complications within the brand’s lineup.
Priced at USD$280,000 (approx. AUD$391,698), the 43mm rose-gold timepiece represents a significant departure from standard dual-time travel watches. Rather than relying on a traditional GMT hand, the self-winding Manufacture Calibre JCAA45 features two fully independent sub-dials driven by a central 30-second tourbillon. Placing a high-speed tourbillon directly in the centre of a dual-time display is a technical challenge that positions the reference against high-end independent haute horlogerie from houses like Richard Mille and Greubel Forsey.
Derived from an Arabov family heirloom that originally inspired founder Jacob Arabo to pursue watchmaking, the combination of a high-speed central tourbillon, custom blued-titanium relief dial, and limited production run creates a distinct release for collectors.

Dial Layout and Case Geometry
It’s not a small piece. The exterior architecture measures 43mm in diameter and 18mm in height, dictated by the domed sapphire crystal and the multi-layered depth of the central tourbillon assembly.
Constructed entirely from 18K rose gold, the case features polished finishing across its curved bezel, lugs, and case sides. Anti-reflective treatment applied to the front sapphire crystal prevents glare under harsh lighting conditions. Meanwhile, flip the watch over, and the sapphire display caseback reveals a specialised metallisation treatment depicting blue oceans alongside gold continents.
On the front, the blued titanium dial provides a high-contrast background for hand-finished, stamped continents finished in rose gold. Rather than flat printing, the topographical globe introduces structural dimension across the dial surface. Two independent sub-dials sit positioned at the top and bottom of the dial, each featuring rose gold-plated hands to display separate hours and minutes for two distinct time zones.
Positioned dead centre between the two time displays sits a signature compass rose element. This central structure houses the elevated tourbillon cage, anchoring the visual symmetry of the entire layout. The watch provides 30 metres of water resistance, preserving its role as an artistic high-complication piece intended primarily for ceremonial and formal wear.

Unlike traditional tourbillons that rotate once every 60 seconds, this central balance completes a full rotation in 30 seconds, requiring precise energy management from the mainspring barrel.
The defining technical characteristic of the Calibre JCAA45 is its central tourbillon that’s suspended beneath a transparent sapphire bridge. This layout allows an unobstructed view of the escapement from all angles while maintaining mechanical stability. Furthermore, the dual time complication allows independent adjustment of both the hours and minutes for each sub-dial, enabling the wearer to track non-standard time zones offset by 30 or 45 minutes.

More than a win for Zverev, this is a win for Jacob & Co., an independent watchmaker, which can now put itself on a pedestal with some of the most recognisable brands in the world. While many athletes opt for lightweight, basic sports models for post-match press conferences, Zverev’s choice of ‘The World Is Yours’ Dual Time Zone Tourbillon brings focus back to traditional artistic complications, and we’re here for that as well.
