Dodge is headed into forbidden territory with its Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody models. Already a crowd favourite, the Hellcat is getting a new Jailbreak Edition that not only adds on more power but also grants access to more options, exclusive parts, and previously forbidden colours.
The Dodge Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak Edition is freeing up plenty of options that previously weren’t available in the muscle car. Just as a taste to whet your appetite, those options include leather steering wheel options, satin chrome and red exterior badging finishes, Hammerhead Grey leather seats, sepia and Demonic Red seatbelts and floor-mat accents. You can also score a Copper Weaver carbon-fibre bezel, your choice of blue or yellow brake calipers, a chrome fuel door, and 20-inch Warp Speed Satin Carbon and lightweight Low Gloss Granite Wheels. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
With the Jailbreak edition, there are seven different seat options, stripes, and wheels; six brake calliper colours; five exterior badging finishes; and four options for steering wheels, seatbelt colours, and floor mats. “For those looking for a unique appearance, we are going to let customers run free through the styling archives,” says Tim Kuniskis, the Dodge Brand Chief Executive Officer. So if there was ever a look you wished the Hellcat had, now’s your time to get it.
And what about the power upgrade? The Hellcat powertrain is recalibrated, taking the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 up a couple of notches in horsepower, specifically, it’s getting a 10 horsepower boost to bring the muscle car to a total of 807 horsepower. Breaking out of jail will cost you though. The Jailbreak option package starts at USD$995, which gets tacked onto the USD$84,645 base price for the 2021 Charger or the USD$82,675 price of the Challenger.
