There was a time I thought about finishing an all-black suit with a pair of Air Max. Glad I didn’t. But if I had, these would’ve been the ones.
The COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS x Nike Air Max Dolce SP takes a pretty obscure early-2000s Air Max and turns it into something you could actually wear to the ball. So naturally, we got our first during the Spring/Summer 2026 runway in Paris.
It all starts with the rather unpopular Air Max Dolce. This slightly offbeat model was never a classic, but it held its own, sitting somewhere between a runner and a slip-on shoe. But with a few CdG additions, it becomes something closer to a black-tie loafer with Air Max underneath.
No laces (thank goodness) and finished in a glossy patent leather across the upper. The triple black treatment does pull everything together, obscuring most of the branding. Nike Air at the heel and CdG on the insole. They’re not fighting for your attention because they don’t need to. They know how good-looking this shoe is.
Underneath, it’s still doing what an Air Max should. Visible cushioning in the heel, enough comfort to wear from waltz to wedding. It’s a runway piece dressed up as a sneaker, and exactly where this kind of hybrid sneaker was always heading.
