Apple Introduces the All New 16-Inch MacBook Pro

The world’s greatest pro notebook is now that much greater, thanks to a stunning new release. Just unveiled by Apple, the 16-inch MacBook Pro comes packed to the gills with choice specs, including the brand’s largest Retina display to date. That’s joined by the latest 8-core processors, up to 64GB of memory, next-level graphics, and an all-new thermal design. Put it all together and throw in loads of extra goodies and you’re looking at one supremely powerful and high-performing MacBook Pro.

In addition to the larger display, pristine graphics, and conspicuous power, the 16-inch MacBook Pro hosts a new Magic Keyboard with a redesigned scissor mechanism and 1mm travel. Reaching the apex of usability, the keyboard delivers a satisfying feel and seamless typing experience. Also featured on the laptop is a six-speaker sound system, extended battery life, Touch Bar, Touch ID, Force Touch trackpad, full spread of apps and suites, and the Apple T2 Security Chip. It all runs on the new macOS Catalina platform, a veritable ecosystem with its own bevy of built-in perks. Among them is Sidecar, which allows you to employ iPad as a second display or as a high-precision tablet input device using Apple Pencil.

Of course, the primary selling point behind Apple’s sleek new laptop remains the awesome Retina display, which represents a bona fide benchmark. Aimed at professionals and enthusiasts alike, it touts 500 nits, a resolution of 3072×1920, and an increased pixel density of 226 ppi. In turn, expect the utmost tier of accuracy and immersion, two things no laptop lover can do without.

Meanwhile, the advanced thermal architecture uses an intelligent fan design and larger heat sink for increased airflow and improved heat dissipation. That means the laptop can run at higher power for longer periods of time. Providing similar levels of optimisation are the powerful processors, faster memory, and new AMD Radeon Pro 5000M series graphics, which are the first 7nm mobile discrete GPUs for pro users.

For all the desktop warriors out there, Apple also announced an all-new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR, the latter of which promises to be the world’s best pro display. The Mac Pro has been designed for maximum performance and will feature workstation-class Xeon processors up to 28 cores, 1.5TB of memory, 8 PCIe expansion slots, and unparalleled graphics. The Pro Display XDR is likewise extraordinary, boasting a 32-inch Retina 6K display with P3 wide and 10-bit colour, 1,600 nits of peak brightness, impeccable contrast, and a super-wide viewing angle. Both products will be available just in time for Christmas.

The new 16-inch MacBook Pro is available now for A$3,799 (and up) through both Apple’s website and its store app. Your standards may never be the same.
