The CHF 3,900 (approx. AUD$6,730) price is a shocker. I have to admit I thought it was a typo when I first read the press release for the H. Moser & Cie. Off-Grid earlier this week. It’s taken me just as long to decide whether or not this is the second ugliest watch I’ve seen this week, Hublot’s Jeff Koons Balloon watch being a clear frontrunner, or some sort of Isuzu VehiCROSS of the watch world. Something that’s so limited, rare, and odd that it suddenly becomes utterly desirable.
It’s no secret that the luxury watch industry is in a constant battle with the relentless onslaught of connectivity. Whoop, Garmin, Oura, and the Apple Watch all present serious health benefits. “Health is wealth” is a common phrase among the ultra-rich, and brands have scrambled to add screens and sensors to new models to capture a health-conscious demographic. Well, H. Moser & Cie. chose a slightly different route with its latest release, focusing on the bare essentials of horology, but the aesthetic holds true.
The Off-Grid model operates as a digital watch, but one that actively resists the smartwatch label. It provides necessary data without bombarding the wearer with notifications. The most surprising element is not a 1/100th-of-a-second split-second chronograph or 100-year perpetual moon phase, but the seamless integration of the Calibre D10 digital module beneath a mostly analogue dial. Measuring 42.6mm in diameter, the Off-Grid has a serious wrist presence akin to its flagship models. Yet it asks only a fifth of the price, and the result is a piece that feels rooted in horology while winking at modernity.
Design, Dial Layout, and Case Geometry
Off-Grid borrows heavily from the established proportions of the Streamliner collection. The 42.6mm steel case integrates either white or black composite materials, and there’s a schmick, slightly domed sapphire crystal that protects the dial while adding to the overall thickness of 14.4mm.
The exterior architecture features standard push-buttons positioned at 2, 3 and 4 o’clock. There’s a dedicated “OFF-GRID” pusher at 9 o’clock to activate travel mode.
On the back, a sapphire crystal case-back includes a distinct Moser hallmark. Beneath the glass, the skeletonised dial reveals the digital display situated at 6 o’clock. Traditional elements anchor the upper half of the face. You’ll find a smaller domed dial that rests at 12 o’clock, finished in either Black or Red fumé. The signature H. Moser & Cie. logo is applied in transparent lacquer, maintaining the brand’s penchant for understatement. You also get Super-LumiNova ceramic indexes and matching luminescent hands. Finally, the watch secures to your wrist with an integrated rubber strap, closed via an engraved PVD-treated steel pin buckle. It’s a high-end package that’s priced like a mid-range watch.
Mechanics and The Calibre
Powering the Off-Grid is the electronic quartz Calibre D10, developed in collaboration with SEQUENT. The movement operates at a frequency of 32,768 vibrations per second and delivers an accuracy of ±0.3 seconds per day. However, it’s important to note that it has a power reserve of only 12 months in time-display-only mode, or 6 months with combined use, including time display, 30 days of alarm function use, and 4 hours of chronograph use (with activation of the digital display at 6 o’clock).
Comprising 186 components, the 6.90mm thick calibre integrates Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.3) for iOS and Android compatibility.

The Editor’s Take
Brands like TAG Heuer heavily lean into full touchscreen displays for their digital offerings, but it’s interesting to see a brand like H. Moser & Cie. take a hybrid approach that prioritises aesthetics over app integration. It’s crystal clear that this release marks a divergence from typical Swiss-connected watches.
The decision to limit notifications leans this more towards a true enthusiast’s tool rather than a smartphone extension. However, the 42.6mm case size guarantees substantial wrist presence, but the integrated rubber strap should mitigate any top-heaviness.
Overall, I believe the Off-Grid succeeds not because it tries to imitate a smartwatch, but because it carves out a niche that few brands can achieve. Whether it compromises the core tenets of high-end finishing to accommodate a circuit board is entirely up to the wearer.
Price and Availability
H. Moser & Cie. produces the Off-Grid in two highly limited runs. Reference 6DI0-1202 features blue PVD treatment with a black or fumé dial, capped at 1,000 pieces. Reference 6DI0-1205 pairs black PVD with a Red fumé dial and is also limited to 1,000 pieces. The brand offered early access to existing clients between September 21st and 23rd.
The remaining stock is available to the wider public from September 24th until October 5th. Retail pricing has not been publicly specified by the manufacturer. The sheer existence of the Off-Grid suggests an industry shifting away from hyper-connectivity toward mindful curation. The watch market continues to reward brands that refuse to follow the crowd.
