A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar “25th Anniversary”

This is the fourth model from A. Lange & Söhne commemorating the affectionate Lange 1’s 25th anniversary. Not one to beat to the sound of the same drum, but the marriage between subtle aesthetics and insanely complicated mechanics is one that makes me drool. Featuring a tourbillon and a perpetual calendar, Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar “25th Anniversary” is one crazy bit of kit. Maybe not my favourite dial from the German watchmaking masters, but it’s one that I can definitely see strapping to my wrist!

Rado Captain Cook automatic watch with a brown sunburst dial, black bezel, and tan leather strap on a white background
The Rado Captain Cook Automatic features a vintage aesthetic with modern mechanics

RADO Captain Cook Automatic

Easily one of my favourite watches from RADO and one that I was fortunate enough to spend some time with a while back, the Captain Cook Automatic combines a very vintage-inspired aesthetic with huge potential for wearability with thanks to its strap options. Be it the Milanese mesh bracelet or the two additional straps, the Captain Cook Automatic offers a wide range of wearing situations. Easy to dress up or down, and speaking from experience I did both, comfortably. It’s a bit bulky, but I distinctly remember enjoying its proportions and its wrist presence.

Two Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur Military watches side by side with black and blue dials and fabric or leather straps
The Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur Military in two distinct colourways

Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur Military

Now available in bronze and in black PVD, the Marine Torpilleur Military blends the beauty of a military-inspired timepiece with the contemporary designs tenets that we’ve all come to love from Ulysse Nardin. One of the directors of Ulysse Nardin, Françoise Bezzola, eloquently stated that “Military inspiration is a cyclical trend that has infiltrated our wardrobes since the end of the 19th century and which often signals its comeback in fashion week’s spring-summer collections. Why not on our wrists as well?”. Both models present their own distinctive pros and cons, but both still carry with them the quintessential DNA that makes the Marine Torpilleur Military so appealing.

Maurice Lacroix AIKON Chronograph Camouflage 44mm

Maurice Lacroix AIKON Chronograph Camouflage 44mm

No, it’s not a new version of the Royal Oak. It’s the brand-new Maurice Lacroix AIKON Chronograph Camouflage 44mm. Featuring a very cool camouflage pattern (called the Urban Camo design) and available in a limited run of 500-pieces, the Maurice Lacroix AIKON Chronograph Camouflage 44mm is a wonderful casual proposition. Powered by a Quartz movement, meaning that this is more of a looker than a goer, the Maurice Lacroix AIKON Chronograph Camouflage 44mm is less of a serious piece of horology and more of a watch you’d buy because you appreciate its super modern look.

A Chronoswiss Sirius Chronograph Moon Phase watch with a blue guilloche dial and silver case on a black background
The Chronoswiss Sirius Chronograph Moon Phase features a detailed blue guilloche dial

Chronoswiss Sirius Chronograph Moon Phase

Featuring a chronograph with a moon phase and date indicator, the Chronoswiss Sirius Chronograph Moon Phase is one busy bit of kit. But it’s one that I actually enjoy. The dial’s limited real estate has been used wonderfully well, speaking to the efficiency of the Chronoswiss atelier as a whole. The architectural lugs, mushroom pushers and massive onion-shaped crown continue this theme of eventfulness, and while some may not really see eye to eye with its neo-classical design, I certainly do appreciate the Chronoswiss Sirius Chronograph Moon Phase’s overall look.

A matte black Chanel J12 automatic watch with a ceramic bracelet and rotating bezel on a white background
The Chanel J12 automatic watch in a sleek matte black finish

Chanel J12

The last piece on this week’s list and one for your better half, the Chanel J12 is available in either a black or a white ceramic 38mm wide case. The black ceramic model is featured here, and I personally feel that you’d get much more wear out of the darker model. Either option however, has the same dial design and structure to it, so regardless of which option you choose there’s going to be plenty of consistency throughout. This is a wearable, functional and very easy-to-wear watch, and it’s one that I know at the very least my partner would wear every day.
