Built on two decades of work ethic, athletic dominance, and business acumen, LeBron James‘ legacy extends far beyond the hardwood. Now, he’s taking that a step further by partnering with Mercedes-Benz to reveal a bespoke Mercedes-Maybach S 680 at Pebble Beach.
Based on the ultra-luxury flagship Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC sedan, which commands a starting price of around USD$235,000 (approx. AUD$575,000 before on-roads), the build serves as the centrepiece of the brand’s new Future Classics Auction House display for the event.
The destination for this near-identical twin of James’ personal ride isn’t the dealership but a charity auction later this year benefiting his I PROMISE program.
Reflecting on the 140-year milestone and the brand’s future-facing vision, Adam Chamberlain, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, noted that bringing the Future Classics Auction House to Monterey Car Week allows the marque to showcase its heritage while proving how Mercedes-Benz continues to “reinvent the automobile.” The event “unites the world’s most extraordinary automobiles with the enthusiasts, collectors and storytellers shaping automotive culture,” according to Chamberlain, demonstrating how a new generation of technologically advanced vehicles is “also destined to become automotive icons.”
Underneath the bespoke “Light Ivory” paintwork sits Maybach’s range-topping twin-turbocharged V12, paired with a custom “Stormy Weather” Nappa leather cabin alongside subtle homages to his family and hometown. Let’s take a closer look!

The highlight within the Future Classics Auction House display at Pebble Beach is a near-identical twin of LeBron James’ personal Mercedes-Maybach S 680, which started as a “deeply personal vision” for the NBA legend before evolving into a custom build for collectors.
Based on Maybach’s range-topping S 680 4MATIC limousine, the project serves as a physical showcase for Mercedes-Benz’s top-tier MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program. Designed to give ultra-high-net-worth buyers complete creative authority by pairing them one-on-one with specialists in Sindelfingen, the service turns personal stories, colour inspirations, and symbolic details into road-legal reality, proving that for Mercedes-Benz, “craftsmanship is not an abstract promise, but something collectors can see and touch in every bespoke detail.”
Starting on the exterior, the flagship sedan features a custom MANUFAKTUR Light Ivory non-metallic paint finish paired with colour-matched monoblock-style disc wheels. Underneath the bonnet sits Maybach’s handcrafted 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 pumping out 621 hp (463 kW) and 664 lb-ft (899 Nm) of torque. Sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the long-wheelbase cruiser launches from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds.
To meet growing demand for bespoke commissions in the United States, Mercedes-Benz recently opened the MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure Hub at Mercedes-Benz Studio Los Angeles in Beverly Hills. Operating as only the second facility of its kind in the world alongside the Centre of Excellence in Germany, the private Beverly Hills studio offers buyers a “guided journey from personal story to material, colour and handcrafted execution” in an exclusive, private environment.
Rare Heritage Icons and AMG Performance Previews
Beyond the custom Maybach build, Mercedes-Benz Classic assembled a fleet celebrating 140 years since Carl Benz filed the original patent for the motorcar in 1886.
Leading the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance route is the one-of-one 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Streamliner, an aerodynamic pre-war marvel built for high-speed autobahn endurance. Joining it on the tour is the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT SUV, offering enthusiasts a first look at the future of AMG’s high-performance utility lineup.
Also making a historic appearance is the last known remaining 1905 “American Mercedes.” Built in Queens, New York, over 120 years ago, the high-performance brass-era icon returns to Pebble Beach following an extensive restoration by the Mercedes-Benz Classic Centre in Long Beach, California. The display is rounded out by iconic road and race machinery, including the 1938 320 Streamliner Sedan, 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II, 300 SL Roadster, and the CLK 63 AMG Black Series.
Price and Availability
The LeBron James-personalised Mercedes-Maybach S 680 will be offered via a private charity auction later in 2026, with all proceeds going directly to the LeBron James Family Foundation.
While the auction build is a one-of-two commission, standard Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC models start at approx. USD$235,000 (approx. AUD$575,000 before on-road costs) before individual options.
