The NFL plays its first regular season game on Australian soil on Friday 11 September 2026, and Carlton Dry is putting two footy fans and their mates in the stands for it. The It’s Still Footy competition is offering two double passes to the San Francisco 49ers versus Los Angeles Rams game at the MCG, plus a $3,000 travel card to cover the cost getting there.
This is a competition of skill rather than a raffle: You answer one question in 25 words or less: which AFL player would do best in the NFL, and why? Judges score every entry on originality, creative merit and literary merit. Chance plays no part in who wins.
Entries opened on Wednesday 26 August and close at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday 6 September 2026, so get in quick. Entry is free, open to Australian residents aged 18 and over, and limited to one per person. If you’ve got a take on which AFL star could crack an NFL roster, the It’s Still Footy entry form is where you argue it.

Two prizes are on offer and each is worth up to $4,524, which puts the total prize pool at up to $9,048. Every prize is made up of two adult general admission tickets to the 2026 NFL San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Rams game at the MCG on Friday 11 September 2026, plus a $3,000 Digital Prezzee Prepaid Mastercard to put towards flights and accommodation if the winner lives outside Victoria.
The campaign itself is built around Strauchanie, Australia’s self-appointed footy superstar, who has decided the NFL is where his talents were always headed. Carlton Dry is the Official Beer of the NFL in Australia, and the brand is running the whole thing on the idea that the pre-game catch-up, the friendly rivalry and the post-game debrief are the same in both codes. On game day, Carlton Dry also runs a pub in Yarra Park outside the MCG, open from 7am for fans heading to the match.
Winners are contacted by phone within seven business days of judging. Note that the tickets are tied to that one fixture: if a winner can’t attend on 11 September, the prize is forfeited, so only enter the It’s Still Footy competition if you can actually make the date.

How to Enter the Carlton Dry It’s Still Footy Competition
The form is short. You supply your first name, last name, date of birth, email, postcode and mobile number, pick an option from a dropdown asking what excites you most about the NFL event, then write your answer to the promotional question: in 25 words or less, which AFL player would do best in the NFL and why? You also tick that you’ve read the Conditions of Entry. That single answer is your entry, and because you only get one, it pays to work on it before you hit submit on the It’s Still Footy entry form.
Because the judging is on originality, creative merit and literary merit, a specific case beats a famous name. Think about which attributes actually carry between the codes: the aerial marking that translates to a contested catch, the raw pace, the tackling technique, the kicking leg, the composure in front of 90,000 people. Our rundown of the highest paid AFL players is a decent shortlist to argue from if you need a starting point.
It’s also worth knowing what you’re entering for. The 49ers and the Rams meet at the MCG on Friday 11 September 2026 in the NFL’s first regular season game in Australia, and we’ve covered the half-time show and entertainment lineup separately. Once you’ve got your 25 words, head back to the Carlton Dry entry page and lock it in.
