Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn Joker

First Look: Lady Gaga on Set as Harley Quinn in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

Lady Gaga as DC’s new Harley Quinn is causing a commotion both on the streets of Gotham and on the internet. The first batch of images from the movie’s production has dropped, offering us the first look at the actress in full makeup and costume as Harley Quinn for the upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. And Gaga’s dressed to impress. The actress was spotted in New York City shooting some scenes for the sequel to the Oscar-winning 2019 hit, Joker.

Judging by these newly surfaced photographs, it’s evident that Gaga is going for a completely different vibe and style than Robbie and isn’t shying away from adding her own spin to the character. The actress is wearing a combination of red and black, which obviously are the original colours for Harley’s costume. She’s rocking a red satin blazer with tulle sleeves under a cream-ish white top, paired with a black leather mini skirt, and sheer tights. Her entire attire is embellished with the character’s classic harlequin diamond print pattern, which only adds depth to the overall look.

Gaga’s Quinn is surrounded by a large crowd and is being chaperoned down the court building steps by Gotham City authority. Several protestors have also flocked to the scene wearing Joker-inspired face paints and masks and holding signs which read, “Free Joker,” “Justice 4 Joker,” “Joker Marry Me” and “No Justice Not Guilty Not Joking.” By the looks of things, it seems like Gaga’s Quinn has been brought into the courthouse to testify for Phillips’ Joker, who might be facing some serious legal consequences after what he did at the end of the first movie.

Eagle-eyed fans have even spotted a neat little Easter Egg within these placards. Interestingly enough, one of the many signs in the crowd reads, “Dent is the Clown.” Even though nothing’s confirmed, this sign might be foreshadowing a Harvey Dent cameo in the sequel. Given, all the political troubles Joker will be facing, Dent’s cameo could be an interesting way to introduce another prominent villain.

Folie à Deux reportedly began filming back in December of last year, with Todd Phillips directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scott Silver. While details surrounding the sequel’s plot are being kept under tight wraps, Todd Phillips did tease that the film is going to be a full-blown musical. Joker: Folie à Deux hits theatres on October 4, 2024.
