Daddies, a New Podcast from Man of Many
1. The Eyes of Ghana

Directed by Ben Proudfoot, The Eyes of Ghana centres on 93-year-old Chris Hesse, the former personal cameraman to Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president. Following the 1966 coup that ousted Nkrumah, political enemies attempted to destroy all documentation of his era, but Hesse secretly saved more than 1,000 film reels. Nearing the end of his life, he teams up with young Ghanaian filmmaker Anita Afonu to restore this lost archive and return the unseen images to Accra.
Being born in Ghana in 1980s, I didn’t live through the Nkrumah era myself, but growing up, the stories and legacy of that time were always deeply present. Watching this at the Opera House with my parents, who were kids during Nkrumah’s presidency, made it a profoundly personal experience. They were completely blown away by how accurately the documentary captured the true spirit, energy, and zeitgeist of that momentous time.
Seeing our history preserved against all odds and brought to life on the big screen was pure magic. It is a powerful bridge across generations, a touching tribute to Ghanaian heritage, and an absolute must-watch for anyone who loves rich, historical storytelling.

2. Gilding Cooper – The Golf Brand That Would Not Take No for an Answer

We get offered a lot of free stuff here at Man of Many, and for a few reasons, we try not to accept anything we are not going to cover. Partly it is being sustainable, the wastage, shipping and the packaging, partly it is about not filling a cupboard with things nobody here will ever actually use. We also tell brands upfront that sending us something guarantees them nothing in terms of coverage. Gilding Cooper, a new Australian golf label that only launched at the end of August, insisted on sending their clothing out to try anyway. Boy, did it surprise me, in a good way.
The packaging was the first thing, which sounds like a small detail until you have opened as many boxes as we have. Then the fits. These are modern, tailored cuts I would happily wear off the course, which is something I can’t really say about most of the golf gear in my wardrobe. The polos are top class, whether you go for the clean Players Polo ($115) or the striped Heritage Polo ($125), and the Sunday Shorts ($120) are the pick of the collection. Tailored enough for the pub on a Sunday afternoon, comfortable enough that you forget you have played 18 holes in them. Perfect fits for summer, and a fair bit better than my handicap deserves.

3. Ozone Edge Allula – The Kite That Reignited My Love for Kiting

I have been kiting for a while now, long enough that most new gear feels like an incremental upgrade rather than anything revelatory. The Ozone Edge Allula changed that. I used to ride an Ozone Enduro V.3, a kite I rated highly at the time, but there is genuinely no comparison once you have flown the Edge. The lift is unlike anything I have experienced on a kite before.
On the Enduro I was jumping 6 to 7 metres, which I was more than happy with. Two sessions into the Edge and I am already hitting 9 to 11 metres, with landings that feel remarkably smooth for jumps that size. It is the kind of gear that does not just improve your riding, it reinvigorates why you fell in love with the sport in the first place.

4. Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger

Growing up, Oasis was a foundational band for me. Liam and Noel Gallagher (along with their revolving lineup of guitarists and drummers) were a doorway through which I discovered much of the music I still listen to today. So, I was curious to watch this documentary about the band’s highly anticipated 2025 reunion tour, which took place 16 years after the brothers’ acrimonious split.
Written and directed by the talent behind Peaky Blinders and, ironically, the Blur film No Distance Left to Run, Don’t Look Back In Anger provides a fascinating depiction of where Oasis sits in our cultural landscape. Long maligned and beloved in equal measure, the band nonetheless now enjoys a status most would kill for. With this in mind, it’s interesting to hear talk throughout the film of how horrible the breakdown between the Gallagher brothers was. Because, in truth, it was the best thing that could have happened to Oasis, as it halted the long, slow decline they’d been on ever since hitting their 1996 peak.
Had they soldiered on rather than imploding in a Paris dressing room five minutes before they were due on stage, the Gallaghers could never have commanded the kind of cachet that made the ‘25 tour such a phenomenon. But by disappearing, their legend was able to grow, and that’s partly what this film is about. Yes, at its core is a fractured fraternal dynamic that heartwarmingly mends over the course of the tour, but the documentary also explores what that relationship (and the associated song catalogue) means to people all over the world, many of whom weren’t even born when Oasis last released an album.
These varied facets of the Oasis dynamic make Don’t Look Back In Anger a rewarding watch, despite being entirely too long at around two hours. Yes, there are too many platitudes from the Gallaghers, and devoted fans will have heard some of these stories before, but the film’s central themes of forgiveness, love, community, and redemption are surprisingly affecting in these bleak times.
