UFC superstar Conor McGregor is set to join Jake Gyllenhaal in Prime Video’s remake of the classic ’80s action film Road House. Making his first foray into a Hollywood blockbuster, the two-time division champion will join a cast that includes Billy Magnussen, Daniel Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Cage and Bob Menery. Let’s hope Mystic Mac’s PPV numbers transfer over to the box office.

The reimagining follows the story of a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who finds employment as a bouncer at a rough roadhouse in the Florida keys, but soon learns not everything is what it seems. Deadline reports McGregor will be playing an unknown character in the flick, with sources making it clear he would not be playing himself in the film.
According to reports, Hollywood has been trying to lure McGregor onto the movie set for some time. However, the Irishman has been patient, wanting his debut project to be the right fit. Insiders said he only watched the original recently but was keen to see how the creators were planning to involve him. Other sources added that after meeting with the top executives, he loved the idea of where the new story was headed compared to the original.
At the helm is director Doug Liman, working from a script written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. Joel Silver will be producing for his company, Silver Pictures. JJ Hook, Alison Winter and Aaron Auch have all signed on to serve as executive producers.
The last time McGregor was on a red carpet, he ended up in a brawl with rapper Machine Gun Kelly. Let’s hope everything runs smoothly this time round.
