Best New Series on Amazon Prime Video

This September, Prime Video brings The Boys spinoff Gen V back to screens, introducing the world to a new breed of superheroes and antiheroes. Similarly, another classic returns, with Australian series Top End Bub continuing a much-loved feel-good franchise. Here is a closer look at the best new series on Prime Video this month.

Gen V: Season 2

Release Date: 17 September 2025

As if college life wasn’t messy enough, this popular series adds superpowers to the mix. It spins off from The Boys franchise and centres around the next generation of supes. Season 2 brings the gang back to Godolkin University while the nation grapples with Homelander’s ongoing reign of terror. From the shady new Dean to the discovery of a secret program to the brewing war between humans and supes, it’s all part of the college experience!

Top End Bub

Release Date: 12 September 2025

The adventures – or misadventures, rather – continue for Aussie couple Lauren (Miranda Tapsell) and Ned (Gwilym Lee) in this spinoff dramedy series. Having survived their bonkers wedding experience (as seen in the 2019 film Top End Wedding), the pair are now living it up in the city of Adelaide. Then comes a shocking tragedy and the impromptu guardianship of Lauren’s eight-year-old niece, bringing them back to Top End for the long haul.

The Girlfriend

Release Date: 10 September 2025

Adapted from a bestselling novel, this psychological thriller series is bursting with juicy potential. Robin Wright plays Laura, a successful career woman who seems to have the perfect life and family. Enter her son’s new girlfriend, Cherry Laine (Olivia Cooke), who may or may not have ulterior motives. Driven by suspicion, Laura’s search for the truth threatens to uproot everything she’s worked so hard to build. Is the danger real, or is it all in her head? Watch to find out!

The Runarounds

Release Date: 1 September 2025

For anyone who loved Daisy Jones & the Six, this music-themed drama series appears to cover similar ground. The story follows a group of high school graduates as they form a rock band over the summer. What comes next is a life-changing pursuit of stardom, complete with romantic entanglements, bitter disappointments, and original songs.

Hotel Costiera

Release Date: 24 September 2025

This upcoming thriller series takes place on Italy’s breathtaking coastline, home to the luxurious Hotel Costiera. It’s here that former Marine Daniel De Luca (Jesse Williams) assumes the role of local fixer, using his combination of brains and brawn to assist the hotel’s wealthy guests. When he’s tasked with tracking down a missing girl, De Luca uncovers a threat that cuts well above his pay grade.

Best New Movies on Prime Video

Prime Video isn’t dropping a lot of fresh movie content this September, but it’s still bringing plenty of quality entertainment. If you haven’t caught acclaimed films like Poor Things, now’s your chance. Meanwhile, Liam Neeson is back on the road, punching, kicking and shooting his way through some kind of trouble, presumably on the hunt for baddies.

Ice Road: Vengeance

Release Date: 3 September 2025

The 2021 action movie The Ice Road didn’t exactly scream for a sequel, but one was whipped up nevertheless. This time around, star Liam Neeson travels to Nepal and gets trapped on a bus with deadly mercenaries. We’ll go watch Speed again instead.

Screamboat

Release Date: 2 September 2025

The seminal Disney cartoon Steamboat Willie recently entered the public domain, making it only a matter of time before someone turned it into a schlocky horror flick. Like the similarly terrible Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, this one reimagines a beloved character as a crazed killer, but forgets to build an actual story around the conceit. Hop aboard the New York City ferry, where the huge rat Screamboat Willie unleashes terror upon unsuspecting passengers. Yawn.

Poor Things

Release Date: 7 September 2025

Director Yorgos Lanthimos brings another surreal world to life with this Oscar-winning dramedy. It puts a bawdy spin on the story of Frankenstein’s monster and features a career-defining performance from Emma Stone. She plays the inimitable Bella Baxter, who’s brought back from the dead and set upon Victorian London. Definitely check this one out if you haven’t already.

In the Lost Lands

Release Date: 14 September 2025

This fantasy adventure reteams Resident Evil director Paul W. S. Anderson with star Milla Jovovich and adapts a short story by George R. R. Martin. Such credentials would imply an entertaining ride for fans of the genre, but the execution leaves much to be desired. The story takes place in a dystopian wasteland, where a sorceress (Jovovich) and a drifter (Dave Bautista) search for a werewolf’s magical power…or something like that.

The Radleys

Release Date: 7 September 2025

Meet the Radleys, your everyday British family who also happen to be vampires. Their efforts to keep up appearances and resist natural cravings come crashing to a halt when their secret is exposed. Kelly Macdonald plays Mom while Damian Lewis pulls double duty as both the family patriarch and his twin brother. It’s all based on a 2010 novel by Matt Haig.
