The Tomorrow War

The big dog release for July 2021, Amazon Prime Video’s The Tomorrow War is part Terminator, part Edge of Tomorrow but 100% ridiculous. A group of time travellers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. According to the recent additions, the only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Of course, instead of going for actual soldiers, they opt for a bunch of random dudes, like high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Things get even weirder when he teams up with a brilliant scientist and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons). We’ll see how this one plays out.

Jolt

Ok, this looks cool. Amazon Prime Original Jolt tells the story of Lindym a beautiful, sardonically-funny woman with a painful secret. Due to a lifelong, rare neurological disorder, she experiences sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses that can only be stopped when she shocks herself with a special electrode device. Unable to find love and connection in a world that fears her bizarre condition, she finally trusts a man long enough to fall in love, only to find him murdered the next day. Her response? A revenge-filled mission to find his killer, coupled with the added pressure of being the prime suspect. Badass.
