Michael B. Jordan & Ryan Coogler are moving forward with their next collaboration

Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler to Reunite for New Mystery Movie

In a surefire crowd-pleaser, Black Panther duo and long-time buds Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler are teaming up once again for a pretty enigmatic “genre” film. Although details such as the plot or cast surrounding this yet-to-be-titled movie are being kept under tight wraps, The Hollywood Reporter says that two sources have mentioned the feature will contain a “period element” or historical setting.

The film is Coogler’s latest brainchild and an original idea written by Coogler. Reportedly the project is being pitched to studios and streamers, with entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider adding to the buzz by suggesting the genre might be vampires, though Coogler and his team remain tight-lipped. Coogler and Michael B. Jordan have collaborated on several projects in the past, diving into genres from social drama to superhero epics.

Most recently, Jordan made a small cameo in Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, reprising his role as Erik ‘Killmonger’ Stevens. While talking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the actor talked about how he managed to keep his cameo a secret. “It’s tough, I think this time around, because we lost our brother Chadwick – rest in peace to Chadwick Boseman – it was so much weight, to power through,” he said. “Ryan Coogler had such a tremendous task in front of him to evolve the script and the story in a way that still kind of honoured Chadwick but moved the franchise forward as well. So for me to be able to come back – and I really had to keep it under wraps, I had to grow my hair out.”

Jordan further added, “You know, I got the locks back in and stuff like that. And I’m travelling (to) a lot of places, so I’ve got to wear a hat, a hoodie, fly private, which isn’t too bad of a thing. But being able to keep it under wraps was really a tough thing.” Given Jordan and Coogler’s penchant for exploring new territories, their upcoming movie certainly aligns with their sensibilities. And now that the project is almost off the ground, we’ll hopefully get to know more about the film’s premise, genre cast and release date soon.
