Kanye West ‘Hides’ In Plain Sight Behind Creepy Face Mask in Italy

It’s quite ironic, isn’t it? While it certainly sounds like Kanye West is doing everything he can to hide his face from the world, he seemingly accomplishes the complete opposite. Refusing to put down the mask as we exit the grip of a global pandemic, Ye is setting his sights on becoming the new “king of masks” by pulling out all the stops. None of which are quite as bizarre as the latest addition to the mask lineage.

The Ultralight Beam rapper looks like he’s putting together his Halloween ensemble early as he took in the sights around Italy on Sunday, October 17th. Outside of the mask – which we’re still trying to identify (likely Balenciaga) – Kanye West also wore a head to toe Balenciaga outfit, including;

In a recent Instagram post, it actually appears as though the mask literally scraped the hair of the rappers head. Although, sources suggest it’s simply a new haircut to symbolise the legal changing of his name from Kanye West to ‘Ye’ or ¥ as outlined in the post.

Ye was touring Venice after performing at Tiffany & Co. executive, Alexandre Arnault and D’Estree founder, Geraldine Guyot’s wedding – where he wore a similarly strange face mask. In the audience stars such as Pharrell Williams, Beyoncé and Jay-Z could be spotted. Mr West performed hits such as Flashing Lights and Runaway which, as one fan pointed out, is rather hilarious considering lyrics below (and there’s much worse);

“Let’s have a toast for the douche bags
Let’s have a toast for the assholes
Let’s have a toast for the scumbags
Every one of them that I know
Let’s have a toast for the jerk offs”

Masks seem to be the new norm for Kanye West, however, we don’t recommend adding them to your ensemble anytime soon. Instead, check out our style guide on how to dress like the most famous artist in the world, before he signed to Balenciaga. For more information about Balenciaga, we recently covered creative director Demna Gvasalia in a piece surrounding The Simpsons x Balenciaga collaboration that launched last week.
