When Louis Vuitton makes accessories, it doesn’t stick to the old playbook. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the French maison unveil a raft of ludicrous home and living essentials, from the uber-expensive Aeroplane Bag to the out-of-this-world BlueTooth speaker. But while LV’s imaginative accessories range has always toed the line between form and function, some fans aren’t convinced by the new ‘Pizza Box’.

Emblazoned with the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram, the new leather ‘Pizza Box’ is a music accessory designed for the vintage lover. Not reserved for a slice of Domino’s finest, the new luxe container is actually a vinyl record holder. The 36 x 36 x 5 cm box boasts the House’s signature cowhide leather canvas with text reading, ” LV SOUND DESIGN AND RECORD CLUB” on the top.
Unsurprisingly, the unique record holder gets its name from its boxy shape, but while it bears a starkly similar form factor to a classic pizza box, LV has elevated record storage to a luxury level. The exterior latches are closed with a gold-buttoned leather strap and in trademark LV style, each corner is sealed with gold, Louis Vuitton-embossed hardware. Inside you’ll find fixings for securing the vinyl records or music discs, with smooth, lighter-toned leather interior features for compact storage space.
While the new LV Pizza Box is an interesting take on high-fidelity audio, not everyone is stoked about it. The design does not come equipped with any handles or gripping attachments, making it rather challenging to carry and transport, which is not ideal considering that is the main function of the accessory. Similarly, the small storage compartment means you’ll have to be selective over which records you house.
“I’ll stick with my $50 aluminium flight case that holds more than 12 records that actually has a handle on it…thank you very much,” one user wrote on Facebook.
“Pulling up to play a 12 song set, u sh*tting me!! This man went form over function once again,” another wrote.
Whatever your opinion of the new LV Pizza Box, it must be said that the accessory won’t come cheap. The combination of premium leather, stunning gold highlights and of course, the iconic LV monogram make this one highly collectible piece of kit. The Louis Vuitton Pizza Box is listed for AUD$2,730 and is available to order now.
