Tom Ford is back with a new scent, Beau de Jour, and it relies heavily on the musky scent of patchouli paired with amber. The new scent also recruits lavender from Provence, African rosemary, oakmoss, and basil with a final burst of geranium to create a multifaceted profile that is at once smoky and minty. The new scent is targeted at “the perfectly groomed gentleman who considers every detail. He exhibits the best version of himself to the world, but beneath the surface is something deeper, refreshing, and sublime in all its layers.” The Beau de Jour scent was created by Tom Ford creative director Karyn Khoury and perfumer Antoine Maisondieu.
Having served as the creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, Ford knows a bit about fashion and looking your best. Hailing from Texas, he also knows a bit about what it means to smell like a man. Since 2006, he has been working on his eponymous luxury brand. He’s also spent some time in the director’s chair, having helmed the Academy Award nominated films A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals. He is currently the Chairman of the Board for the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Beau de Jour isn’t Ford’s first venture into the world of perfume and cologne. He has released several scents for both men and women. Each has expressed Ford’s style, however, and provides a blending of scents that always reflect the best version of the wearer, and are often unisex. Finding the right scent can be difficult, but if you want one that has a warm and earthy feel, while also bringing in the refreshing power of mint, then Beau de Jour could be a good option for you. Beau de Jour comes in a 50 ml bottle and is marked to sell for $340.
