ALD x New Balance 1906R is Not Your Grandfathers Shoe Anymore

After taking the sneaker industry by storm with a host of 1980s basketball silhouettes, Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have returned with a 2000s ‘Y2K’ aesthetic in the form of the ALD x New Balance 1906R. After revealing a teaser video for the 860v2 back in April, the 860s brother-in-arms is finally receiving a global launch date scheduled for May 4th at 10 am in Australia. Priced at AUD$220, it’s certainly easier on the pockets than the Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 ‘Baklava’ Release. Let’s check out the details.

One of the first sneakers between the two brands to heavily feature a shiny aesthetic popular amongst running shoes in the early 2000s, the 1906R combines exaggerated overlays in contrasting greens with a cream mesh upper. These are staple colours for the Queens, NY brand at this point, but we’re fans of the look and the comfort that’s promised by N-ergy cushioning & ABZORB technologies. Not to mention the flexible ACTEVA LITE cushioning and segmented ABZORB SBS pods at the heel.

Look out for the ALD x New Balance 1906R when it arrives in a special box on May 4th, 2023 at 10:00 am AEST via the newbalance.com.au link below.
