Converse’s New Chuck Taylor All Star ‘Construct’ is a Retro Sneaker for the Modern World

Converse has been pushing the boundaries of sneaker design since 1917, and the All Star Construct, the latest addition to the Chuck Taylor family, is no exception. Their latest silhouette pays homage to Converse’s 80s court heritage as well as classic designs such as the Pro Star and Star Tech, but with a modern twist.

The Chuck Taylor All Star Construct has a rubber cage around the toes on both the medial and lateral sides, adding to the classic canvas upper’s durability. The thicker EVA midsole is wrapped in rubber foxing tape for a sleek look that also provides extra wear and tear protection.

The reimagined outsole is one of the most noticeable aspects of the Chuck Taylor All Star Construct. The herringbone tread adds extra traction, and the extension of the tread into the midsole gives the shoe a distinct utilitarian aesthetic that is both trendy and functional.

Despite these changes, fans will recognise and appreciate the classic Converse details. The All Star patch, pinstripe, toe cap, and rubber foxing tape at the forefoot are still present, but the decorative stitching on the reinforced canvas upper adds a touch of flair and allows for new material and colour combinations.

The Chuck Taylor All-Star Construct is a versatile sneaker that can be dressed up or down, making it an essential piece of any sneakerhead’s wardrobe. Stylish yet functional,  it also provides groovy retro vibes for shooting hoops with friends.

The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Construct retails at $160 AUD and is available now
in Black, Roasted, Vintage White and Cyber Grey.
