Must-Visit GABS Craft Beer Festival is Returning to Sydney This Month

If you love beer and dream of being surrounded by more than 500 beer taps with some of the most outlandish concoctions you could ever imagine, then the GABS (Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular) craft beer festival is the place for you. This internationally acclaimed event is making its way to Australia’s East Coast this June, and we couldn’t be more excited with a stopover in Sydney along the way when it touches down on Friday, 31st of May – Saturday, 1st of June, 2024 at the ICC in Darling Harbour.

The perfect winter pick-me-up, this year’s lineup is looking better than ever. Showcasing some seriously wacky and innovative beers, you can expect to try countless new brews, with over 100 unique beers brewed exclusively for the craft beer festival. Here are some we’re looking forward to:

  • Two Bays Brewing Co.’s sushi-inspired ‘Wakame Me Up Before You Gose’.
  • Stoic Brewing’s breaky-ready ‘Bacon Me Crazy’
  • Aetheon Brewery’s kit-kat like ‘Matcha and White Chocolate Stout’
  • Morrison Brewing’s wacky ‘Smoked Kelp Stout’
  • Six String Brewing’s ‘Spaghetti Saison’
  • Soapbox Beer’s ‘The Sanga’

However, above all other beers, we’re particularly keen to try the ‘Banana and Blueberry Imperial Maple Macadamia Pancake Smoothie Sour’ from Seven Mile Brewing Co. Could this be the wacky beer to end all wacky beers?

For those feeling less adventurous, there will also be coffee and cocktail beers floating about, like Brew Dog’s Try and Bahn Mi concoction of nuts, coffee and dark chocolate or the Michaelager cocktail beer from Black Hops Brewing Co. Plus, if you’ve always wanted to try the brews from the oldest brewery in the world, now is your chance – the world’s oldest brewery, Weihenstephan will also be taking part in the craft beer festival this year.

Beer aside, at this craft beer festival you can chill out in an Apres Ski Resort-inspired winter wonderland or check out the pink party on Friday night in each city to support the Pink Boots Society. If you want to do a deep dive into the industry, there will be a presentation at the International Brewers Collective on Thursday, 30th May, at ICC Sydney for craft beer enthusiasts or any industry professionals. And while you’re at it, why not enter the draw to win a trip overseas designed especially for beer enthusiasts? You could soon be strolling through Weihenstephan, Germany, and one of the most famous beer festivals in the world, the Freising Volksfest.
