Feel-Good Friday: 21 July 2023 – Fever Pitch

Sports fans have a lot to be thankful for heading into the weekend. Our Matildas kicked off their World Cup campaign with a victory over Ireland, which will hopefully quieten our redhead friends at the pub. Additionally, golf enthusiasts will be glued to the couch over the break, with the 151st edition of The Open currently terrorising professionals on the course. However, if watching people wack and kick balls isn’t your thing, Feel-Good Friday has plenty of other offerings to sink your teeth into.

FIFA Fever Hits Sydney

As we’ve mentioned above, FIFA World Cup fever is in full swing. The Matildas are looking promising so we think you should get amongst the action and support their run towards football glory.

Darling Square

Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour has been chosen as one of nine FIFA Fan Festival sites across Australia and New Zealand. The FIFA Fan Festival will be a place for families to come together and celebrate their team’s performance throughout the Tournament. Along with all matches being shown LIVE, there will be live music performances and a variety of food and beverages on offer in Tumbalong Park.

The Streets of Barangaroo

The Streets of Barangaroo’s “Footsteps of Passion” at Waterman’s Cove is set to be a key attraction to visitors. In addition to this enormous foot and ball sculpture, they’ll have interactive soccer games and the ‘FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Unity Pitch’; a multi-coloured football pitch representing the two unique local cultures of Australia and Aotearoa (New Zealand), and the coming together of the 32 nations participating in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

Open from 12pm to 7pm daily between 20 July – 20 August with a fun, vibrant program of football activities, the pitch will be available for use by the public, teams, organisations, sporting and community groups.
