The Colonel has unleashed the infamous Popcorn Chicken Slab to the masses for the first time in two years. The long-time secret menu item now fulfils the desires of slabbers everywhere as it makes its way onto the main menu from today, September 3rd, 2024. One of the biggest menu items to ever cluck its way through the front doors of the fine fried chicken establishment, KFC has officially brought back one of the biggest cult menu items ever—the Popcorn Chicken Slab—from now until Monday, September 30th, 2024.

Here for a good time, not a long time, the Popcorn Chicken Slab is made from a platter of six soft dinner rolls filled with Popcorn Chicken, oozing tasty cheese and BBQ sauce.
“We have been overwhelmed with requests from fans to bring this favourite back, so we are thrilled to announce that The Slab is available nationwide for the first time since 2022, just in time for the Footy Finals! This fan favourite is perfect for sharing with friends or family, but get in quick because it’s not going to be around forever,” said Tami Cunningham, CMO at KFC Australia.
When it was first released, the slab was tested in nine restaurants in the Ballarat area. It was originally available as a part of KFC’s online ordering app under the ‘New Products’ section, a pseudo ‘KFC secret menu’ item. Now, the new offering joins KFC’s previously released Slida Staker, Pop N Twister, and Hot or Not Burger—a hall-of-fame-worthy special item.
Let’s not forget about the Fried Cookie Dough, which wrapped a ball of cookie dough in KFC batter, and the infamous Waffle Double, which placed a golden, fluffy waffle, crispy bacon and Smokey Maple Mayo packed between two fillets of the new Original Crispy chicken.
The Popcorn Chicken Slab will be available in KFC restaurants nationwide from now until Monday, September 30th, 2024.
Pricing for the Popcorn Chicken Slab has increased since 2022. It will start from AU$12.95 (up from $10.95) for The Slab on its own, $16.95 for The Slab Combo for 1 with chips and a drink, then $18.95 for The Slab Combo for 2, and finally, $33.95 for The Slab Feast that includes a selection of Original Recipe, Chicken Tenders, Chips and sauce on the side as well.
