Founded in Santa Cruz, California in 1985, Giro Sport Design has become a leader in high-performance snow gear, responsible for arming some of the world’s best snowboarders and skiers with tools of the trade. Contrasting that, Fender is best known for dropping a series of industry-leading guitars, amps and pretty much anything your garage rock band needs to hit the stage. Naturally, the two brands share a love of all things loud and exciting so for 2022, they’ve joined forced and dished up something special for the ski and snowboard world.
“There is a deep connection between music and skiing and snowboarding culture,” Josh Reid, Giro Snow brand manager said. “For decades, music has been the soundtrack of this mountain lifestyle … And in 2022-23, music continues to play a huge part in the ski and snowboard life, from the reels that blow up on social media to the personal playlist piped into countless earbuds on the hill.”

The Fender x Giro collection comes to life across three of Giro’s top-selling snowsports goggles, The Contour, The Method, and The Axis. It also builds upon Fender’s recognisable elements, incorporating additional designs that have inspired countless days in the backcountry, park, and everything in between.
Fans of early surf-rock culture, psychedelic rock and heavy metal will take note of styling and colour cues from Fender amps and guitars, including tweed found in Fender guitar cases and amps. As well as the classic sunburst fade found on the Telecaster and Seafoam Green of the Stratocaster. Diehard fans of Fender will even recognise the Jimi Hendrix strap from Woodstock, and the Monterey Jazz Festival or the “F” of the Fender logo rotated to look like flowers.

“At times, skiers and snowboarders want to ride loud, fast, and powerful. There are also days when riders experiment and push progression. At other times, however, the ride is about shifting into the groove of a smooth flow, a rhythmic steady state. That’s what inspires this whole collection,” Giro creative director Eli Atkins said. “So, pop the earbuds in, pull the goggles down, and drop in. We’re beyond stoked to connect our community of riders with one of the most iconic music brands of all time and to celebrate the deep connection between snow and music in this one-of-a-kind line.”
