Aston Martin Valhalla is a 937HP Hybrid Stunner

What a stunning car the 2022 Aston Martin Valhalla is. This beautiful 937HP V8-Hybrid halo-car is the brainchild of a concept that’s evolved into a truly driver-focused production vehicle. In a world where concept cars rarely make the production line, we love nothing more than a brand that backs itself and delivers a transformational product of exceptional quality. The new Valhalla paves the way for Aston Martins Project Horizon strategy and broadens the model portfolio to reflect its presence in Formula One, set best-in-class standards for performance, and drive the transition from internal combustion to hybrid to fully electric powertrains.

The chassis takes Aston Martins racing Formula One expertise and applies it to chassis, aerodynamic and electronics. Combine this with a cutting-edge hybrid powertrain technology at its heart, and the Valhalla is a formidable technological showcase.

But what’s a technological marvel without driver engagement? Valhalla’s sole focus is immersing the driver in a new kind of supercar experience that brings unprecedented excitement, enjoyment, and driver engagement to the top of the supercar sector.

Drivers will get the best of both worlds with a snarling 750HP V8 engine that revs to 7200RPM and the instant delivery of electricity by way of a 150kW/400V battery hybrid system. Made up of two E-Motors; one mounted on the front axle and the other on the rear axle. The electric system contributes a further 204PS for a headline combined power output of 950PS.

When driven in EV mode battery power is directed exclusively to the front axle, but in certain situations, 100% of battery power can be sent to the rear axle, supplementing the full force of the V8 for maximum performance.

With the technical out of the way let’s get into the way it looks. For Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, he saw this as an opportunity for the Aston Martin design team to express extreme performance with fresh form and proportion. Future-proofing the design language with a wide low grille and mixture of sharp angle and smooth contours.

“When we created the Valhalla concept we were keen to emphasise the design legacy of the Aston Martin Valkyrie and that intent remains unchanged, but the execution has evolved considerably in order to reach production of this all-new car. Though the legacy of Valkyrie is clear, Valhalla is now a more mature, fully resolved piece of design,” he said.

Like most supercars today, the design appears as the perfect combination between the technical aerodynamics side of the equation and the sexiness you expect from an Aston Martin. Uncorrupted by the need for aggressive wings that jut into the airstream (and look excessive), the vehicles carbon fibre body surrounds the dihedral doors that bring drama to the beginning and end of every journey.

Our favourite aspect of the design are the cut-outs in the roof which add aggressiveness to the otherwise smooth and sculptured upper surface. We’d also trade a giant rear wing for a roof scoop every day of the week, more roofscoopness please! Oh, and the exhausts just look MEGA exiting from the rear with a show that we can only hope includes the odd flame.

With the likes of Aston Martin Cognizant Formula OneTM Team drivers Sebastian Vettel, Lance Stroll and Nico Hulkenburg behind the wheel during production. We can only imagine the Valhalla as a new generation of Aston Martin, defining – ‘the Mastery of Driving’ once again with a true British supercar.
