While we’re still yearning from the loss of our supercharged V8 Hellcats, Demons, and Trackhawks, it’s nice to know Jeep is going to fill that void with a stupid fast EV. Yeah, the new Jeep Wagoneer S isn’t going to whine like a dying cat, but your accountant will thank you later at the fuel pump. Meet the all-new, all-electric premium Jeep Wagoneer S, which will be sold in the U.S. in the fall of 2024 and then in key markets around the world, including Australia.
You’re looking at a dual-motor EV based on the Stellantis group’s STLA-Large architecture. It’s set to produce 447kW (600HP) and complete the 0-60 mph sprint in around 3.5 seconds. Notably, it’s smaller than the petrol-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, positioned as a ‘mid-size model’ and will compete with vehicles like the Kia EV9, Cadillac Lyriq, BMW X5 and the new Range Rover Sport.

Concept images like those above and below showcase a slippery and sleek exterior that lends itself to aerodynamic efficiency. We don’t have a confirmed range figure yet but expect north of 650km WLTP if we’re to believe those shared by Jeep during early planning stages. Confirmed is the front grill design which is marked by a reimagined LED-lit class-exclusive seven-slot Jeep brand grille.
“We’ll delight our customers with a premium, highly efficient SUV that is loaded with technology and high-quality craftsmanship, offering 4×4 capability, high performance, rapid acceleration and a target range of 400 miles on a single charge,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO, when the brand revealed all four of its electric SUVs back in September 2022.
These vehicles will lead the brand forward as it strives to meet its lofty emissions goals as part of the Dare Forward 2030 long-term strategic plan. This plan aims for 50% of sales in the U.S. and 100% of sales in Europe to be battery-electric vehicles (BEV) by 2030. At the time of writing, Jeep Australia’s only electric offering is the Plug-in Hybrid Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe.
