Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 Anniversary Limited Editionn

Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 Anniversary Limited Edition

As if the Speedmaster couldn’t get any cooler, Omega go and clad its 42mm wide case in “Moonshine” 18k gold with a beautiful burgundy bezel. As is customary by Omega to use gold for 50th anniversary pieces, the Speedmaster Apollo 11 Anniversary Limited Edition obviously follows that tradition. This is an especially gorgeous timepiece that resonates warmth and beauty in a way that appeals to me greatly. The use of gold extends to the movement too, with various parts of the 3861 movement plated in gold. Not cheap, and at 32,000CHF you’d be lucky to get your hands on one of the 1,014-pieces.

MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT watch with a high domed crystal, diamond-set dial and case, and a white leather strap
The MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT features a stunning diamond-set design

MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT

MB&F recently came out with their very first timepiece created solely for our female horological enthusiasts. Available in a white gold case with either a black lacquer or diamond-set dial, the Legacy Machine FlyingT combines everything we’ve come to know and love from MB&F with the beauty of a true woman’s watch. The baguette-diamond-set variant is my pick of the bunch, and truth be told were I in a position to purchase any of these pieces for my better half, I’d have absolutely no hesitation in getting it for her. The contrast between aesthetic beauty and mechanical genius is apparent through the Legacy Machine FlyingT, and while some may lay claim to it being too blingy, I think it’s been executed superbly.

Close up of a Hautlence HL Sphere watch featuring a blue rotating sphere under a domed sapphire crystal
The Hautlence HL Sphere showcases a unique blue jumping hour sphere

Hautlence HL Sphere 01

Avant-garde seems to be the trend with the HL Sphere 01 from Hautlence, but I’d say let’s go one step further and call this piece avant-garde with a dashing of futuristic design. From the blue sphere on the left side of the watch to the inverted look of the “dial” to the right side of the watch, the HL Sphere 01’s visuals are both striking and intriguing. From a wearability perspective I don’t see this as something I’d personally be comfortable wearing, but from a sheer wow-factor view, then yes, the HL Sphere 01 is definitely an interesting watch you could wear here and there. Very cool stuff either way though.

A Panerai Luminor Marina automatic watch with a brushed steel case and bracelet on a black background
The Panerai Luminor Marina features a sleek brushed steel finish

Panerai Luminor Marina

Available in either a 42mm or a 44mm wide stainless-steel case, the Panerai Luminor Marina features a super monochromatic colour palette that is wonderfully appealing. From its sleek metal bracelet to the silver-coloured vertically brushed dial, the Panerai Luminor Marina works on so many levels. I love the addition of that Panerai blue small-seconds hand, breaking up the simplistic colour layout of the Marina. What some may call a boring watch, I like to think of as being functional, wearable and highly enjoyable. Turn the piece over and you’ve got Panerai’s in-house calibre P.9010 automatic movement. This is a very two-dimensional looking movement, but it is still very well finished and is well suited to the Marina’s look nevertheless. A big yes from me.

Two Breitling Navitimer watches with black dials and leather straps resting on vintage aviation documents
The Breitling Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition celebrates a classic pilot watch

Breitling Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition

Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of vintage re-makes. But every once in a while, a watch comes along that changes that. This time it’s the Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition from Breitling, a wonderful and true-to-form re-make of the original Navitimer. An icon of watchmaking from the get-go, the Navitimer became the quintessential Breitling and a must have for enthusiasts and collectors from around the world. And now, Breitling have thrown it’s very well made re-make into the fore, with the Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition really portraying its roots well. On the left you have the remake, while on the right you have the original. Notice any differences? Yeah, I struggled too. Vintage re-editioning done oh so right. Well done Breitling!
