General Motors Australia and New Zealand has introduced a fully-blacked-out MY26 GMC Yukon Denali Signature Black, a locally specified special edition of its flagship full-size SUV. Priced at AUD$181,490 in Australia (and AUD$193,490 in New Zealand), this release is designed specifically for buyers who want the sheer scale of an American hauler without the traditional, flashy brightwork.

To achieve the murdered-out aesthetic, GMC finished the exterior in Onyx Black paint and replaced the standard trim with Black Vader Chrome detailing across the grille, front fascia, side mouldings, and rear accents. The Australian specification also features a unique illuminated GMC emblem up front, paired with aggressive 24-inch Black accessory wheels, gloss-black roof luggage rails, and a matching gloss-black hood moulding.

Under the hood, the Signature Black doesn’t mess with a proven formula. While competitors like the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series and Lexus LX 600 have transitioned to twin-turbo V6 powertrains, the GMC relies on a heavy-hitting 6.2-litre EcoTec3 V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management. It produces 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque. That massive output is managed by a 10-speed automatic transmission and an Active Response 4WD system, supported by Air Ride Adaptive four-corner suspension and Magnetic Ride Control to keep the rig stable across harsh road surfaces.

Captain’s Chairs and Cabin Tech

Take a closer look inside, the seven-seat configuration trades the standard middle bench found in most Japanese off-roaders for premium second-row Captain’s Chairs wrapped in Jet Black perforated leather.

The front and rear seats are heated, with ventilation in the front alongside tri-zone automatic climate control and a new power sliding centre console to maximise cabin flexibility.

Tech-wise, the 16.8-inch diagonal GMC Premium Infotainment System touchscreen handles wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless phone charging. It pushes audio through a Bose 14-speaker surround sound setup with CenterPoint. Rear passengers have access to dual 12.6-inch colour-touch LCD screens and two GMC-branded wireless headphones, while the driver monitors speed and navigation via a 15-inch multicolour Head-Up Display.

Heavy-Duty Towing and Safety

Despite the luxury overhaul, the vehicle maintains its Professional Grade utility. It features a two-speed transfer case, an electronic limited-slip differential, and an integrated trailer brake controller equipped with Trailer Sway Control. When fitted with a weight-distribution hitch, it sustains a 3,628kg maximum braked towing capacity, making it slightly more capable than the traditional 3,500kg limit of its main rivals.

One of our favourite features from our time in the Yukon Denali at launch was the 360-degree HD camera system, which delivers up to 11 unique views, including specific Hitch Guidance with Hitch View to assist with precise trailer connection.

Last but not least, the Signature Black is loaded with GMC’s advanced safety suite. Standard technology includes Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist, a Rear Camera Mirror, and the Safety Alert Seat.
