‘Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album’ Rollout Starts Before GTA VI Even Launches

Rockstar Games has unveiled Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, releasing its first six singles just two months out from the game’s official release date.

Created in partnership with Atlantic Records, the 34-track album launches on 19 November alongside Grand Theft Auto VI, with pre-saves open now across major streaming platforms. Physical CD and vinyl editions are also available to pre-order, including one collector release that’s about as subtle as firing an M60 on the neon streets of Vice City.

As we saw with the extended look, which premiered on Netflix before arriving on YouTube six hours later, Rockstar has plenty left in its marketing tank (or Rhino). We still don’t have the game and yet this album campaign, complete with advance singles, heavyweight artists and physical editions, has once again given everyone another reason to talk about Grand Theft Auto VI.

Six Singles Are Already Out

Half the fun of driving around a city in Grand Theft Auto is the crazy mix of music that comes from the various radio stations that start playing whenever you hijack a car (in-game, of course). This time, Rockstar and Atlantic Records have assembled 34 original tracks for the album, with six already streaming online. From what we’ve listened to so far, the lineup is all over the place in the best possible way.

All the Debut Singles From Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album

Rockstar hasn’t revealed the remaining 28 tracks yet, but the first batch already suggests the full album won’t be tied to one genre or era.

The six tracks jump from Yung Lean, Future and Metro Boomin to Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro and Keith Richards, because you can’t visit Vice City without bumping into a proper rock star. Anyone who played Vice City Stories on the PSP might remember saving Phil Collins from assassins before watching him perform In the Air Tonight.

And as much as I hate to admit it, Travis Scott knows how to pick his collaborators. Getting one half of Daft Punk behind the boards gives RHYNO a bit more weight than your average game soundtrack cut.

The Physical Editions Go Full GTA

Beyond Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services, Rockstar has also gone hard on physical media. There are CD and double-vinyl editions, including a limited pressing that fills two transparent magenta records with blue liquid.

It’s a bit ironic that GTA VI is getting this much physical music merch when the game itself won’t ship on disc, and PlayStation has already confirmed it will stop producing physical discs for new games altogether from 2028.

Though much like pre-ordering the game itself, we still don’t know what the complete 34-track album will include. And that’s before we even get into the radio stations. Rockstar says more details are coming on the game’s dynamic score, its “next evolution” of in-game radio and other music elements.

So while Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album is already shaping up like a standalone release, there is still plenty of Vice City radio left to come. Now, where’s Lazlow Jones?
