Pledging to make time for the planet, Swiss watchmaker OMEGA expands its partnership with not-for-profit research foundation Nekton in the form of a special edition Seamaster Diver watch.
The Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition is a stylish way to support the organisation. The watch features a laser-ablated black ceramic dial matt-finished with polished waves and a unidirectional rotating bezel in grade 5 titanium with a laser-ablated diving scale. This watch would look incredible whether it’s worn at the bottom of the ocean or complementing smart-casual attire.
Driving the OMEGA Nekton Edition is the Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 with a unique luxury finish of Geneva waves in arabesque and rhodium-plated rotor and bridges. Tried, tested and certified, the movement can resist magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. As a tribute to the hard-working foundation, the caseback features an embossed Nekton submarine medallion and is engraved with “Naiadlock Diver 300M” as a reference to the watch’s water resistance.
There are two Nekton Editions available: one with an integrated black rubber strap with a polished-brushed buckle to complement the black ceramic dial. The other with a stainless steel bracelet to give the Diver a dressier look.
“Our friends at Nekton are protecting the ocean with the global goal of 30% protection by 2030,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA. “As a pioneering brand with a long history of pushing at the boundaries of what is possible, we have the utmost respect for this bold, confident vision and we’re thrilled to help make the goal a reality.”
Work is already underway in the form of ‘First Descent’, a series of missions to explore and conserve the Indian Ocean. The mission began in 2019 and will resume next year with OMEGA playing a supporting role as sponsor. The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition will be available from October 2020 with the Steel on Rubber model priced at AUD $8,925 while the Steel on Steel version goes for $9,425.
