- Audemars Piguet has unveiled three new Minute Repeater Supersonnerie watches, led by two 42 mm Royal Oaks in titanium and 18-karat pink gold.
- Both Royal Oak models feature the hand-wound Calibre 2953, with patented acoustic technology, a 72-hour power reserve and 20 metres of water resistance.
- The releases also include a white-gold Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie and two 38 mm Selfwinding models with natural stone dials.
There’s something rather charming about a mechanical watch that likely costs more than a car, yet can tell you the time without you ever having to look at it. It’s a paradox Audemars Piguet has been exploring for generations through the art of chiming watches. Its latest Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie models remind us that some of watchmaking’s most impressive engineering isn’t always meant to be seen.
The Swiss watchmaker has unveiled two new 42 mm Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie references, one crafted entirely in titanium with a stunning smoked green dial and another in 18-karat pink gold with a rich brown Grande Tapisserie dial. They’re flanked by a new white-gold Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie. And if that weren’t enough, we have two smaller Code 11.59 Selfwinding watches with natural stone dials from the maison.
The five new references join a broader showcase that also includes the Code 11.59 Perpetual Calendar Openworked, introduced earlier this year. While the designs explore different corners of AP’s watchmaking expertise, the acoustic technology inside the three minute repeaters is familiar territory. First introduced commercially in 2016 after eight years of development, Supersonnerie was designed to make a minute repeater’s delicate chimes louder and clearer. A decade later, it’s still a fascinating piece of mechanical engineering.

Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie
The discretion with which these two new Royal Oaks conceal their complicated trickery is what makes these references stand out. At first glance, they could almost pass for regular Royal Oaks, retaining the collection’s signature octagonal bezel, integrated bracelet and relatively uncluttered dial. Only the small-seconds counter at six o’clock hints at something more complicated beneath the surface.
At the top sits the particularly striking titanium model (Ref. 26591TI.OO.1252TI.08). Its satin-brushed green sunburst dial glows almost emerald at the centre, fading to near-black around the edges and disappearing into the octagonal bezel. The matching small-seconds register blends into the gradient, while broad brushed titanium surfaces across the case and bracelet contrast with narrow polished bevels.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, we find the pink-gold version (Ref. 26591OR.OO.1252OR.01), a far more traditional take on the icon. It’s also the first Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie presented in 18-karat pink gold, pairing the precious metal case and bracelet with a deep brown Grande Tapisserie dial. Its raised square pattern contrasts with the concentric finishing of the small-seconds counter, while the warm gold hands and hour markers complete the look.
But even these stunning dials can’t match the high notes emanating from inside.

AP’s Calibre 2953 Has Its Own Soundboard
Audemars Piguet’s manually wound Calibre 2953 is a 362-component movement with a 72-hour power reserve. At its heart is the Supersonnerie minute repeater, a complication that chimes the hours, quarter-hours and minutes on demand.
Traditionally, a minute repeater uses tiny hammers to strike metal gongs, producing a sequence of sounds that communicates the time. The challenge is making those sounds audible to the wearer, especially from something as small as a wristwatch case. Then there’s the other ordeal of keeping unwanted mechanical noise from spoiling the performance.
Audemars Piguet’s solution involves attaching specially developed gongs to a dedicated soundboard rather than relying on the conventional movement-mounted arrangement. The soundboard helps the vibrations resonate and project beyond the case, while a specially developed regulator reduces mechanical noise that might otherwise interfere with the chimes.
The construction is particularly interesting when viewed from behind. The titanium Royal Oak features a circular Supersonnerie soundboard caseback with elongated openings around its perimeter, forming part of the resonance chamber that allows the chimes to carry beyond the watch. It’s an unusual bit of engineering hiding beneath an otherwise familiar Royal Oak silhouette.
1/7Code 11.59: Three Expressions of Watchmaking
Beyond the two Royal Oaks, Audemars Piguet showcases three distinct interpretations of its Code 11.59 collection, ranging from an intricate openworked perpetual calendar to a minute repeater and a more restrained Selfwinding model with a natural stone dial.
Code 11.59 Perpetual Calendar Openworked | White Gold, Black Ceramic

- Case: 18-karat white gold with black ceramic case middle and crown
- Diameter: 41 mm
- Thickness: 10.6 mm
- Water resistance: 30 metres
- Dial: Sapphire with transparent grey subdials and smoked outer zones
- Strap: Black alligator leather
- Clasp: 18-karat white-gold three-blade folding clasp
- Movement: Selfwinding Calibre 7139
- Power reserve: 55 hours
Introduced earlier in 2026, the Code 11.59 Perpetual Calendar Openworked (Ref. 26443NB.OO.D002CR.01) is arguably the most mechanically impressive of the three. Housed in a 41 mm white-gold case with a contrasting black ceramic middle, it features a transparent sapphire dial that exposes the intricate architecture of Calibre 7139.
Once you’ve admired its openworked finishing, the movement has a particularly clever party trick. Instead of relying on recessed pushers and a separate correction tool, you can adjust every calendar indication using the crown alone. That’s a welcome bit of convenience for a complication designed to account for varying month lengths and leap years, especially when the alternative usually involves remembering which tiny button does what.

The Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie (Ref. 26395BC.OO.D009CR.01) uses the same acoustic engineering as the Royal Oaks, but with a far more revealing presentation. Where the Royal Oaks keep their mechanical complexity largely hidden, this one is happy to show off a little.
Its 41 mm white-gold case features a smoked sapphire dial that offers a partial view of the Calibre 2953 beneath. Darkened mechanical components and gold-toned gears sit behind the polished baton markers, while a silver-grey minute track and small-seconds register provide some welcome contrast. It’s an interesting way to showcase the machinery without sacrificing the ability to tell the time at a glance.

Natural Stone Joins the Collection
Rounding out the November AP releases are two 38 mm Code 11.59 Selfwinding models that trade mechanical theatrics for the natural beauty of stone. For all the geologists out there, these two are for you.
The first (Ref. 77410BA.OO.A604CR.01) pairs an 18-karat yellow-gold case with a gold obsidian dial, its dark surface featuring fine radial streaks and reflective mineral inclusions enhanced by a sunburst motif. Depending on how the light catches it, the dial shifts between deep charcoal and warmer golden tones, making it anything but a straightforward black watch.
The second (Ref. 77410OR.OO.A001CR.01) pairs an 18-karat pink-gold case with a mirror-polished black onyx dial. Its almost perfectly smooth surface is interrupted by 13 baguette-cut diamond hour-markers, totalling approximately 0.37 carats. It’s a far more restrained look than the shimmering obsidian, although there’s nothing particularly modest about putting diamonds on a watch dial.
Both are powered by the automatic Calibre 5909, feature a 60-hour power reserve, and come with black alligator straps.
